Why the **** didn't England declare with 350 run lead? Pathetically defensive. Poms still SCARED OF LOSING.
Guaranteed Clarke would have declared in same scenario |
By:
who delcares with 2 and half days to go :S haha
By:
a complete f uckwit, that's who

Time and time and time again Oz have shown they have no clue how to bat in India and England. Cook could've sent a message to Aussies there that they own them in England
By:
especially in the first game of a 5 match series
By:
England at 1.45 looks like the bet of the year.
By:
england let the aussies back into this
plenty of time to score the runs this ain't necessarily a done deal |
By:
three bites off terrible bait. you should be ashamed of yourselves gentlemen.
By:
Oz openers would have been praying to not have to bat before end of days play. Have to bat out 8 overs at end of day, opening batsmens worst nightmare, nothing to gain
By:
Now Rogers and Warner go back to motel, rest up, come out refreshed tomorrow. I still think Oz have bugger all chance of winning, but why bring the weather into play
By:
verity lucky to be doing the domestic t20.
should really be on T20 qualifier duty in place of butch. |
By:
So often you see a wicket fall just before close of play. If Rogers or Warner were out now, Oz dressingroom would be demoralised, instead they know poms are still scared of them. Too much respect shown for a team that has proven too often that it can't bat on English pitches

Australia 3.45 to chase 412 on a wicket with spin and variable bounce - this is madness.
By:
Charkitz,
You do know this is a cricket forum? |
By:
By:
australia's chance depends mainly on atmospherics.
if the ball swings and warner and smith go cheaply it starts to become about survival, with balls keeply low and spin, and a 400 run lead, you are absolutely f*cked as a batting side once you go into siege mentality. they need the new ball to do nothing, and as with all big chases, a significant portion of the runs scored by the top 3. |
By:
SL were 1.3 the other day after setting 377 against Pak. I'm pretty sure we will bowl, field and have a better captain than SL. Mathews is truly useless as a captain & their young spinners head fell off.
By:
Declaring on third day isn't madness if there's threat of weather on day 5. What would Australia rather do...
a) chase 350 runs with about 10 overs play left on day 3 b) chase about 400 runs at beginning of day 4 Guaranteed it's b) and anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't watched Oz play much over last 20 years. They're the masters of declaring just before lunch break, tea break etc. Cook has a lot to learn, but I doubt he will, it just seems to be the English mentality to play cricket by the book instead of thinking outside of the box |
By:
Sorry Juce
Been on the pop all day, for a very good reason I may add. Just think Aussies will make a fight of it. If they can get to around 120-2 then odds will change a lot. But that's a big if. |

T20 calls!
By:
australia wud have kept batting haha no way they declare 350 there in same situation
By:
not even up for debate
By:
Jucel, I think Aussies in England are about as effective as West Indies are in West Indies. What is it now, 2 wins out of last 15 matches on English soil?
By:
Exactly. Which always = Oz odds being wayyy to low in England and India
By:
Got love 4th innings markets..
3.25 to chase 412 ![]() We all know it will shorten at 20-0. It's possible we'll see Oz odds on and 1000-1 over the next 2 days. |
By:
*Gotta
By:
Maybe market is smarter than you think, maybe the market knows that Oz have a better chance of winning now that they can regroup overnight. Cook took his foot off throat bigtime. Having said that, Oz should have shortened into $10, $3.25 is madness
By:
If the wicket was flat and not spinning you could make a case for them chasing 400 but for heavens sake the current odds on an Australian win are laughable.
Chasing 250 on a day 4 wicket isn't easy. The only way I see them doing it is if one of the openers gets a big hundred. Clarke doesn't enjoy batting over here. If Australia reach lunch at 100-1 they'll probably go favourites. Ludicrous. |
By:
Australia should be 20+ - absolutely no chance imo
By:
here is my take on the odds. Australia have to chase down the 2nd highest score made to win a game in the final innings, its not impossible and we are talking about England. However, I think the right price for Australia is around 100/1. The odds in this game have been wrong all game. Ladcrookes with England on 228-4 this afternoon had Australia on 4/1 and the draw at 9/2. 9/2 with over 2 days left and england with a lead of 350, how could they off such awful odds.
By:
No harm backing a bit of draw here. Aussies might surprise everyone and bat very carefully ready for a surge on day 5. Weather forecast has worsened for Sunday.
By:
I tend to agree with others that ENG are big here. Would think 1.35 absolute maximum. Of course there's been some quick scoring in this game but pitch should get tougher to play on.
By:
Ah if rain is now forecast, then that is why Ladcrookes were only 9/2 the draw, the last I heard rain was forecast for before play on Sunday and during playing hours.
By:
and not that should read.
By:
Per BBC - light rain all day : http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2653822 - should trust these with a large pinch of salt though
By:
just looked at the bbc weather site, which has Sunday as light rain, but go to the 3 hour forecast and all the rain expected, is between 10pm Saturday evening and 4am Sunday, with a cloudy day on Sunday
