The Grand Final is at the MCG

One semi final is in Auckland where this game is, one is in Sydney. It's only if Aus have to play NZ in that where the higher ranked team plays at home.

with regards to the semi at eden park - If New Zealand qualifies for the semi-finals they will play in this match unless they play Australia, in which case the team finishing higher in the pools has home ground advantage

Yeah.  Figured the final would be locked in, and if they finish 1/2 probably won't face each other til the final anyway?

Assuming all games go according to plan...

The quarter-final match-ups will be determined by the finishing positions from the pool stage.

Quarter-final 1 A1 v B4
Quarter-final 2 A2 v B3
Quarter Final 3 A3 v B2
Quarter Final 4 A4 v B1

Semi-final 1 Winner QF1 (A1 v B4) v Winner QF3 (A3 v B2)
Semi-final 2 Winner QF2 (A2 v B3) v Winner QF4 (A4 v B1)

So if it's NZ 1st, Aus 2nd in their pool, they cant meet til the final.

And there goes everything positive NZ could take out of it.  Luck goes 50/50, NZ won't get close.

I wonder if batting first on that tiny ground is a disadvantage...

took a loss on the game but my word NZ can take very little from that, they got the win and full credit to them but they played an under prepared Aus team on their own soil and only JUST got it done

we can't play much worse than that, if we meet again I have no doubt Aus win

Whatever happens that was a shocking display from Aus. They should've taken Johnson out of the attack in the 4th over. Not a good strategy to keep him bowling. Apart from the Southee crisis early on New Zealand were far more intelligent with their attack.

Australia win this in an eased down canter, there's no way NZ are beating us on this size of ground

They've been beating the likes of Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England and that's where this aura of invincibility has come from, we've been beating on the likes of India and South Africa (convincingly, too)

it doesn't matter what the conditions are, our bowlers are better, our batsman are better and we have our world class captain back who by all report is as fit as a fiddle, NZ rely too heavily on 1 or 2 players and that's never a good situation against one of the best bowling attacks in the world

you could say I am very confident

Yeah fair play second coming you stuck your head over the parapet - perhaps you

struck a slightly too bombastic tone.

To be fair to SecondComing a lot of people read Australia's chances wrong...They are still favourites so they are still being misread...It's like Cricket analysis dyslexia.

I think both sides batting could be exposed by the opposition's bowling. Although New Zealand more so.

OTOH, Watto, an injury prone Clarke and Smith don't fill me with confidence they will make runs.

A low scoring match, which the chasing side wins.

Beating my own drum, but not a bad OP I'd say.

I'd agree that the convict bowling attack is good, particularly on wickets that aren't great for bowling, but i still think that their batting isn't as strong as recent performances suggest.

I wouldn't go as far to call them flat track bullies, but their approach and selection is best suited to weaker bowling attacks and better batting conditions, and i think it showed that they can be undone by a quality bowling side like new zealand. (Steyn seems off at the moment and SA lack the depth in quality that NZ have. )

If they do meet again, i think bowling conditions are the decisive factor: Australia's bowlers and batsmen are collectively better on wickets that offer less for the bowlers.

The Aussie batsmen are weak against the moving or turning ball. Unfortunately it looks like

they will be playing the rest of the tournament in Australia on pitches that will suit their

batsmenSad Their battery of quality quicks will make them very hard to beat.
