Anyone no why the draw is so short at this stage, long range forecast looks good to me, plenty of pace and bounce and turn for the spinners. Let's start with a draw lay at 2.32. Any thoughts?

Most of the forecasts I have seen show rain most days. Betting against it raining in Manchester - what can possibly go wrong? :D

theres forecasts of showers, but light's still pretty good this time of year, plus floodlights, and a result pitch,  how draw is less than 2.8 is beyond me, I managed to lay some at 2.24

First I went short the draw, then long, then neutral.

Forecasts differ greatly, and look particularly uncertain to me.

I'll keep my current smallish position until I have more confidence in them.

Keeping my powder dry for this one. India look on the ropes to me and if they are bowlers down then England flat track bullies will turn up. If England win the toss I might jump on them. Need a good look at the pitch and weather nearer the time.

Plunkett out, ankle injury. Steven Finn recalled.

Sitting this one out.
If the draw goes very short day 1, will lay it with the intention of trading out should the opportunity arise.
Can't trust the weather, India looked poor last time and England blow hot and cold. Leaving this for the pro traders.

Current Friday forecast poor. Otherwise not to bad.

I've backed the draw a bit.

If Egland bowl like they did last time, 3 full days might be enough on a bouncy pitch. India won't play for a draw this time.

Best bet had to be England to win the series when 1-0 down at 5.5 (9/2). Odds against at 1-1 is still appealing.

Weather situation particularly unpredictable.

After flip flopping a couple of times, I now have a handy all green position. I'll now wait to see how days 1 and 2 progress.

Well Thurs looks alright, so we could see the game well advanced come the close and the Draw somewhat longer.

Friday looks the important day to me atm, IF that's 70+ overs then w might need a lot of weather Sat-Mon to keep the Draw in-play.

Weather looks particularly unsettled this week , its going to rain at some stages of the 5 days . How much that will affect playing time is anybodys guess .

Apart from the fact that the teams are fairly evenly matched , the weather factor inclines me to fancy a draw , but the odds are gone .

Hail forecast for Sunday.

I wonder what happens if hail puts dents in the pitch?

BTW, pretty common to see cars covered in dents from hail here in Aus.

I'd be surprised if Finn plays - anyone backing that should ensure it is NRNB (as you have done)

Current track of the so called "Hurricane" is to follow a southerly location and at present looks as if it's going into Northern France rather then mid or Northern England. Don't rely on bad weather for a draw just yet, England could play for a win easily

i bet the draw at 15/8 with a book and layed it off at 2.5. if i held on to it could have layed it off now at evens!

Really don't know where to go with this one. England are not world beaters and are equally likely to lose a test as win it. Aaron could play for India and Ashwin. Dharwan may go with the possibility of moving Rahane or Pujara opening to accomodate Rohit. That might strengthen the batting but puts a stalwart batsman in the firing line to get a good'un.

I think India are a good price if they bat first and include both spinners and England also become a lay if that happens. I feel the Indian batsmen have all had time at the crease even if they haven't gone on. Any one of 6 is capable of a big hundred specially on a fast pitch, might even be Kohli's type of pitch.

If Finn does not play I might be inclined to have a speculative punt on India but I think the sage counsel is to wait and see.

David 'Bumble' Lloyd ‏@BumbleCricket 5h

Saw the pitch yesterday ...Hard ...quite grassy for Old Trafford .. Should be quickest pitch we have seen

Bad weather forecast at a result venue; generally a good situation for making money.
2 draws in 12 years; both against Aus, both weather affected.  Probably be a day 5 result, probably to England but cannot just back England with only one win in the last 12 months: They definitely had the luck in many of the small moments last week, and this new Indian quick could be fairly nasty on a faster surface.  Could go either way.

When you finally win a game, after having not done so for a while, you tend to find, that side will win again. Its like Buses, none will come for 30 minutes and then 2 come along together.

well yeah, India were shocking last week.  But then so were England in the second Test.  2 sides capable of being awful.  England are so thin with the bowling that somebody goes over on an ankle and it's game over red rover. Cautious draw lay here.  Think the batting of both sides is over rated. The bowling's ****. Fast grassy deck. Time lost to rain never as bad as you think it might be.  Result.

The handling of the bowlers is getting increasingly messy.

Plunkett was dropped and now sadly injured. Jordan played in June, then dropped then recalled...dropped tomorrow??

Stokes effectively dropped against SL then recalled then dropped. Woakes a test bowler???

To chuck Finn in now seems a bit random after the way he's been handled of late. Why not pick him at Lord's or last week?

I expect they'll have taken most of the grass off that bumble was looking at earlier and it wont be as fast as is being talked up.  Runs early in the game.  India any sense and they get the spinners in.  5/1 might be a really nice price if they bat first.

I also fancy India for a 'surprise' win if they win the toss. Some bad luck in the previous match made them seem worse than they were.  Be interested to see how Ashwin goes on a grassy english wicket.

Probably not. A lot of rain in the forecast. Although a lot of rain interruptions often brings wickets.

The draw price is crazy.........the forecasts I've seen are for some rain tomorrow and then only showers or nothing at all for the rest of the game.......a damp overcast atmosphere,Anderson swinging the ball around on his home ground and the opportunity to make up lost time with early starts means chaos on here at some point.....
