Don't know why that isn't working.
Scoring at 2 an over on a day 5 pitch with only 6 wickets remaining takes some doing. Hence they will be very conservative in their game plan. |

Another bonus for India is that even if they have a poor first session, they will have the new ball due just after lunch.

Draw finally moving out
By:
In my view the emphasis on c rap cricket ie 20/20 and limited overs has resulted in a host of inadequate batsmen who are incapable of batting defensively. Very little chance of England holding out and avoiding defeat.

All they have to do is leave Anderson left with 1 ball to go and he will **** himself and life a bouncer up to Dhoni.

Rain any chance on Monday???

Cheers guys

OZ, Met office says zero chance. Some other forecasts have a very light shower.

Draw has shortened substantially for no apparent reason.
Had to lay it some more. |

Evening pxb,
far from being distraught at yesterday's events I am not even angry at myself for being a div. just a c'est la vie situation. I am still in disbelief that SL were 2.4 favourites yesterday morning. Steyn, Morkel, Phillander, a day 5 turning pitch at Galle where out of teams scoring 250+ batting first 10 have won, 6 have drawn and only one defeated. I would have bet my bank against them but already over committed by laying Lanka from early in the game at 6, 7, 8 then 5's and the match at Lords. Back to this game I saw enough on the highlights to suggest batting is going to be difficult today. Whilst the draw lay looks like free money I personally am a little averse to a 15-1 lay in terms of risk / reward. I have always said that the best way to make a small fortune is to start with a large one! I can see a draw scenario although it is as remote as an England new ball bowler bowling one straight and full. Another wicker may see England put up the shutters. Once played in it is easier to bat on and getting someone out becomes a tougher proposition but if two partnerships take 2 hours out of the game it makes things a little hairy. Against this of course India are patient, know areas to attack and will let the pitch do the talking. Anyone thinking bad light or rain may stop play, it won't. i was there yesterday. the lights came on in the morning and the afternoon. It looked absolutely fine at the ground. When I watched the highlights it looked so dark as unplayable, no chance. I think money on an India win is a better bet than a draw lay just don't put your bank on it. this is a funny old game! |
By:
oh and with regard to not putting your bank on it, sage advice but...in Steyn we trust!
that was free money. The more I look at it India at 1.45 is a relatively big money bet for me. far better than a 15-1 lay but I have already committed to the India win. |

I think Eng should try and be positive and have an objective to knock the runs off in about 60 overs. No need to be reckless, but if you let a team bowl at you, then you are asking for trouble. Dhoni will become defensive quickly and wait for a mistake! Jadeja yesterday was a prime example. Bowlers hate been knocked off their lengths and all of a sudden the mind scrambles. A quick fifty (say in 60/70 balls) from an England player would get Dhoni's arse tweaking! However, knowing Cook and Moores, they have probably already decided to shut up shop! ****s

WD, as a rule I try, if possible, to go into the last day of a Test all green and today will be no different.
When the match goes in play, that's end of betting for me. Usually after 6:00 am UK time, with a fine forecast, draw goes out. Why did it shorten today? One possibility is that UK punters who don't believe Eng can win, think they may get a draw, thinking in soccer terms. Of course cricket isn't like that. On a grey and rainy day in Perth. |
By:
India have all day to take 6 wickets
England need 214 ............ am I missing something on the draw. No rain is forecast. |
By:
pxb,
you are a better man than me. i try to go into any day of a test match all green. i just don't recall it ever happening! ![]() Objectively india win today. that is what the cricket brain states quite clearly. the heart doesn't and I'd like an out as soon as possible. a quick wicket would be nice! I am green on the draw too and will leave it be. Just going there to have a beer and hope some of these indians bring picnics! |
By:
im huge red here, no way out, all about damage limitation for me
By:
cat you haven't missed anything. these last few weeks have taught me how wrong markets can be and to believe in your own judgement and take the market on when you think it is wrong. Yesterday in galle was the best example of it I have ever seen. In Steyn we trust!
By:
I mean when you are scared you can dream of a Plunkett or Broad coming in and smashing the ball about causing panic and belief but in reality the pitch is spitting to a spinner of mediocre quality like Jadeja. The ball is still seaming, there is reverse about, the new ball is due. it is cloudy. still a wicket would be nice
.oh the wicket maybe flat first up because of the heavy roller. If India go up then jump on it more I say! |
By:
new ball due? how mny overs?
By:
huge green on england and equally red on india and draw.Totaly screwed.
By:
just waiting for 30 more runs from here without a wicket. Will get out of marketwith little red on all three runners.
By:
I have a large green on India and can green up at any time, but still 2 hours to go to play which is plenty of time to make some more money.
Limit losses and maximise profits. While I tell myself this all the time, quite often just have a gut feel punt. But not today. Good luck all. |
By:
Only 1 side, has chased down more than 319 at Lords and that was the West Indies, when Greenidge and Haynes, got the West Indies to 342-1, so its the 2nd highest scoreever to win a Test Match at Lords. It is very unlikely to happen, but not impossible, but this wicket doesn't look like a good wicket to chase down a largish score, against some good seam bowling, with a better spin attack than England.

By:
lot of cash coming for Eng now.
By:
could be a great day to trade good luck
By:
At the rate England score at, it will take well into the final session for England to get the runs and I am expecting England to lose wickets at 3 a session.
By:
lets get it over 60 mill

Alec Stewart reiterating what I posted earlier. Eng need to be positive
