A few showers around mostly on Saturday, but not enough to worry about IMO. Plenty of cloudy skies though.
Trent Bridge normally a result venue but talk is, the pitch will be no green seamer.
India normally a slow starter in series and do poorly outside the subcontinent. So on the face of it the 1st Test looks to be a slam dunk for Eng.
But India have an experienced captain at the top of his game against the woeful Cook + some very good new batsmen. Pity about Gambir.
IMO will be closer than many expect with the series going 2-1 or 2-2.

For me, England are an automatic lay against all but the poorest sides. Got in at 2.62 earlier.

Early indications about the weather may make that an option to back it for me. There is always a danger that the side batting first could be skittled too. You can't win a Test Match on the first day but you can lose one. I am going against the habit of a lifetime and going to wait and watch. On the cricketing side I expect India to emerge as the stronger team over the 42 days. The big questions are still over their batting, which, I suspect to be vastly superior but untested on this green and pleasant land. I expect their bowling to surprise a few. Shami, Kumar and Ishant being able to use the dry pitches to come that their two spinners might exploit second up. I think a 5 man attack is required for India to have a chance in this series. England are just The Calamity Jane of world cricket right now. Despite that I think the selectors have brought in some good young players with Test Match potential. What these guys make of their chance is to be seen. If the ball does not swing I expect England to be spending long periods in the field. It will be interesting to see all the bowlers on show using dry pitches from both sides. The England batting is vunerable but if India cannot swing the ball I don't expect England to be under any pressure till they have to bat a second time. I am just looking forward to an entertaining contest. I also think that if anybody thought the Sri Lanka series got a bit narky then they are in for some fireworks. |

Current forecast is for a washout Thurs with more rain on Sat and Sun, which makes the draw very big at 2,44. Not sure what is going on.

agree about Pujara, Kohli is just the cherry on top ( Actually if Dharwan comes off he will be but I don't think so )
I am waiting to see if the ball swings. England might get Dharwan out early. I am a lay England / back draw sort of mood. Probably lay England should India come through this morning. |

bots are computer arbitrage packages developed by rocket scientist types.
I'm not convinced by them though as occasionally you see them go mad - twice this mornings bots were trading against each other at stupid prices |
