would be great to see SL get into a position where they seriously consider the chase.

If these 2 stay in a while, and continue playing attacking shots, a SL win may not be out of the question

I think the plan will be to bat normally, pick up any easy runs and see where the score takes them. Ironically if the winning line becomes a reality, that's when Englands chances will improve as they take more risks

I was an habitual draw layer until the the 3rd test at Cape Town in March when Australia won right at the death in what seemed to be a certain draw. I lost my bottle and tried to get myself into a horrible mess trying to back the draw at about 1/2 to get myself out of jail. Lost a foo king fortune.

Had plenty of time to think about what Id done in the close season and came back with a new wait and see approach which is paying off so far

Think if you had blindly laid the draw at 3 at the off in this test you might be checking your underpants!

FWIW Dont rule Lanka out here

I've been there too in the past!! I now have a smallish opening bet and then wait and see! Nothing worse than blind panic. 20/20 is the worst for that!

Sometimes I like to take a position before the start.  At lords we knew the wicket was good, easy to bat on if not fast for quick run making, it would last 5 days.  We also knew SL had 2 great batsmen and a few others who knew which end to pick up.  We knew neither side had a great attack unless the ball swung.  In the circumstances the draw was a good opening bet, at least half your match stake.  Same with WI NZ last week.  WI were almost evens!  Lay WI was a gimme!

The game is so much more enjoyable if you start from a winning position..oh and are lucky!  Been really lucky with the last two test matches!  More circumspect at headingly and port of spain.

Geoff boycott talks some boll*x. If everything he says is true, then cricket is the only sport that has gone backwards in terms of speed. Every other sport has got quicker, world records get broken, but Geoff thinks the bowlers are much slower than 30 years ago. Absolute tripe. The bowlers seemed much quicker back in the day because they played on uncovered pitches which would be uneven. Anyone who has played knows that everything feels a lot quicker when the ball goes up and down, especially when it jumps off a length and smashes into u!

I guess we shall be taking the magic carpet to Port of Spain in a couple of hours!

I'd like to assume SL have no prosepect of a win here!  300 off 62 overs...I don't think so

Wicket doing nothing . Just heads down for the Sri Lankans and it peters out to a draw .

They will be wondering why they put England in to bat , particularly when they ( the Sri Lankans) have a world class spinner , unlike England .

On reflection it is hard to believe the draw was 1.8 when Sangakara came in . He has looked so comfortable this summer post Durham .

Was feeling a bit glum about the game going nowhere but in a bid to kill some time during the lunch had a little tickle on the arcade. Not much luck so I thought I would up the stake and have two last spins - now I'm much happier about life !!!
