Clarke looks in shocking nick
By:
nasty bruise on his forearm ouch!!
By:
draw has gone short on the first day of each test match and the others finished inside 4 days!
By:
and now one in the jaw double ouch!
By:
famous last words perhaps, but this doesnt look like a draw pitch at the moment
By:
Warner needs to shield Clarke!!
By:
Easy from here.........but hands down..eyes open....clear decision.........be ok..
By:
no it should be a result. With the dryness and cracks, reverse swing, spin. Enough should happen over the test match
By:
Draw. both sides would be happy with that and pitch as flat as a pancake
By:
that's what everyone said at PE!
By:
not sure these sides have that mindset, especially Aus.
By:
Pancakes.....they crumble too.........
By:
We all know a lot can happen in 450 overs!
By:
Some low bounce

By:

By:
expect i'll be laying oz at odds on within the next half hour or so ;from a betting perspective been a boring day's play for me
By:
Wouldnt think Oz can hit odds on until South Africa bat to be honest
By:
Saffer without Steyn are zipless..............
By:
Morne did Clarke a real favour..........concentrates the mind, a few bruises.
By:
A bit of tap now to finnish it off...........
Some discoloration too,for monday .........im hopeing anyway.... |

Anyone thought about what a potential declaration for Australia might be? I think Clarke will be pulling or the stops to win this Test match, so an aggressive declaration may be in order. However, a few things counting against may be;
- May want to bat on longer with Steyn out of the attack, and capatalise on a weary bowling attack - May realise that pitch is already very dry and advanced, and batting in the second innings will not be easy. Either way, reason why I ask, a bookie has gone up on Australia's Innings Runs line at 551.5 , which seems awful high considering a potential declaration and the Australia potential of a collapse as they push for quick runs.. 551.5 @ 1.90... hmmm, betfair currently has 550 @ 2.2 and noone wanted to back up til 3.5.. Thoughts??? |
By:
that must be the best day's cricket Australia have had in a long time, ebven including the Ashes (inferior opposition there). You lose the odd wicket here and there, but bordeline faultless imo.
By:
Why are you suggesting a need for quick runs....They will go at above 3.5 anyway.I guess their view of the pitch will be a big factor in another 70 overs.
By:
no need for quick runs Aussies will build and build here loads of time

Im totally sick of talking about rain and forecasts when it comes to cricket matches, but I just checked forecast and some scattered rain tomorrow in Cape Town..
http://www.weathersa.co.za/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&layout=edit&id=229 http://www.bbc.com/weather/3369157 Not saying this will effect the result at all obviously, but I have closed out my position and greened up for now... hoping to lay the draw again during any period where players are off for rain, anyone else see this or just completely ignoring after being burned so many times in the past?? I backed the under 550.5 with this in mind a little, if any over lost tomorrow, even if its 10 or so... thats 10 less overs Clarke has to bowl South Africa out twice and re calibrates my declaration estimation to around 515-525, having them bowling just before tea tomorrow? |
By:
And my above post not a ramp btw, just sharing info, up to you what you do with it.
By:
rain is not a big factor in this match

Can't see SAF getting a draw here. Either follow on or they bat last on a pitch that's deteriorating.
By:
Think he will bat until 75 overs, unless all out. 75 x 3.3 (say) means another 250 runs or so, or 560 ish. 550 in danger, about an evens shot
By:
There has been some mention of showers today but didn't sound enough to have a significant and to put into perspective neither of the last two games made it into the 5th day.
By:
Decision time looming for me...do i lay oz or the draw ? damn it will lay draw.
By:
This is Watson's new role in the team here. Bat aggressively and take the game away from SA.
By:
Some little signs off this pitch getting a touch more interesting.....
By:
I was thinking they might just go for a huge score and then bowl twice. It is the last test of the series so no need to save any energy for the bowlers. Could see them going for more than 550.
By:
I'm thinking along similar lines however expect they'll want 650+ .
By:
funny that was, Warney snoozin' like an old fart!
By:
Intent is clear i feel. They want to bowl 12 overs today imho.
By:
pitter patter
By:
Even Money the draw is the value. They will be trading much lower in the next day or so.
It would take a major SAF collapse....not really very likely on THIS wicket! ![]() |
