Just wonder how much it will cost Australia declaring with lead past 450 here........ Had the opportunity declare with 2 new balls ....... 160+ overs would have been good for Aussies

Easily the best batsman in the world overall across all 3 formats.

Morkel batting at 11 is pretty strong indicator of South Africa batting strength

what odds would you give on that being the only wicket of the session?

98 minutes not playing at a ball.....but its the new ball.

i'd lay 8/1

I'd say 5.50 for no more wickets in the session. Aussies will hunt like wolves now for that 7th wicket and looking to rip into the tail

Steyn, Duminy, Morkel and Philander are not in the same class as De Villiers

Everything about me knows that South Africa cannot hold out here but yet as with so many tests it is painstaking to look at it (I am on Australia)

A slight concern is that after each wicket SA are able to settle back in to the crease again. Ordinarily would expect another wicket to tumble quickly after one is lost. New ball is 10 overs old again now

yes new ball wickets are crucial to australia.....another 15 overs and its back to spin.  although lyon will have joy against duminy.

If this is the best bowling attack in the world right now then I wouldn't mind being an international batsman.

I do hope so and would be certain once he falls I can relax and enjoy the filleting of the tail.
I have been to a few games in Cape Town and would always have thought the bowlers would be favoured in a situation like tihs

i did't think aus will be 2+ unless these two made it to tea.  looks like the flip flop will arrive imminently.

a wicket before tea and they'll be 1.5.....could make a tidy profit.

Hopefully these 2 can get to tea. Been a great effort by sa regardless.  Philander plenty handy enough with the bat. Not sure i'd fancy steyn or morkel batting for time though.  Great test match.  Hoping for the draw myself.  Any chance of bad light?! Plain

Was thinking same steview, back them now at 2 s and a wicket gives you profit. Just had a little bit of 2.06 , they were 1.25 this morning?

not really, they're going to go out by .3 at most by tea, he'll only take a small loss.
