Today looks good weather wise, not sure about tomorrow, but overs can be made up on last three days hopefully. On NZ simply for the reason that India have no clue how to play cricket away from India

Hi tractor, not so sure on the weather. From my experience the NZ met service tend to overstate the rain factor (playing it safe I guess) but tomorrow is looking a shocker. The problem with Auckland is that it is very fickle, as is NZ. We are not land locked and that plays havoc. Not like in central europe or russia or america where it is simple to predict when a huge high is over the land. So I cannot say for certain what tomorrow will do. It could rain all day as predicted but we could also quite easiy have a full days play as well. Wicket looks at this stage to be a green top...

Thanks for info tyco. Are you going to the game ?
By:
I might go on Saturday but at this stage stuck in the office. But I shall be keeping an eye via the media. So will try to keep you informed but it may be patchy.
By:
Thing that annoys me about NZ met service website is that the forecast for today is 'rain at times'. Very vague and misleading as it's not until you have a deeper look into it that it's not meant to rain until 8pm tonight.

Tyco . thank you.Your updates are much appreciated.

nz pretty much going to bowl first if they win the toss.... Bryan Waddle (doyen of nz cricket commentators)
By:
This draw price, yes I have it onside.. but geez if there is no loss in play could be one of the best lays in a long time. There is a lot of cloud about and so the NZ and Indian seamers will get plenty of swing....
By:
hessian on the pitch, groundsman thinking a bit of rain lurking about. It is very gloomy but a brisk breeze hopefully to blow it away. So no toss for now but hopefully the hessian can come of soon.
By:
hessian being slowly removed "almost reluctantly" right now... looks like grass clippings have been rolled into the pitch. Ust updating what the comms are talking about.
By:
still no toss will update when that has happened if I can.

Hi guys, I've just come in. Thanks for all the weather information. It's a comfort as I already have a red on the draw from backing at a higher price but not taking anything for granted. Your weather is a mirror of ours (UK) where it can change from one minute to the next.
Hope the Blackcaps have a good game. |

toss at 10.45 and play to start at 11.15 local time.

india win toss and bowl
By:
Good toss to win. It seems (pun intended) very bowler friendly conditions.
By:
McCullum not so happy, saying that he would have loved to win toss and that batting is going to be difficult today. As an aside, a forecaster was on the radio and said that tomorrow is actually looking pretty good, as most of the rain/showers are north of Auckland and it should be ok at the park.
By:
anyone know when we can expect some play ?? havent been following this one weather wise
By:
11.15
By:
At last we have "live" ish pictures on Sky. Pitch looks a bit green!
By:
Tyco, interesting what you say about tomorrow's forecast, if the rain misses Auckland then this draw could be a great lay. Have they got use of the lights at Eden Park?
By:
thanks tyco , not a long delay then
By:
Hi tractor, not too sure about lights. But from memory I think we do. Thats what I said earlier about the lay the draw could (could if tomorrow is ok) be the lay of the century. But I am keeping it onside just to be safe.

I can see Zaheer getting a bagfull on this pitch.
By:
can't believe I Sharma is playing again! Worth laying India just on that basis! Absolute dogshit!
By:
Sharma and Zaheer not really doing what the captain wants. THey do need to breakthrough soon or it could be a long day for them.
By:
Looks a flat deck even with the grass. Plus weak India bowling line up. NZ should get over 300
By:
great catch
By:
another one gone... 2 down. This partnership pivotal for NZ
By:
yeh just started to move now the ball has lost it's lacquer
By:
apart from rain tomorrow, the weather looks set fair! Lay the draw today or back it at close of play and lay it on day 3. Decisions decisions!
By:
if india can get one of these two out it can be problem time for NZ. I just do not trust the middle and lower order at the moment.. tests are different to one dayers.
By:
what time is lunch?
By:
they have been playing for 75 minutes- why no drinks?
By:
that said it can be a challenge for India because these 2 are in sublime form. dont know about drinks and or lunch sorry. I was wondering about drinks too.
By:
probably no drinks, lunch at 1pm I would say and drinks well its too cold really. think the last session to be extended by 15 mins. dont quote me.
By:
nz in big trouble now. 3 down taylor gone.
By:
lunch at 1pm confirmed
