I just cant believe 100+ runs has been cracked 6 out of the past 10 times at the Boxing Day Test match on an opening day. You wouldnt have thought that , based on the Morning sessions runs stats

I wondered what happened to the West Coast theory!
You pointed out not many wickets fell first session I think. Strange that Clarke picked up the ball I think and that spooked me out. England should be able to consolidate this afternoon. Will be interesting to see how Lyon bowls later. I thought he was worryingly good first up and after the purge of the lefties by Boof I wonder what might transpire. I think England are long at the moment but the way they have been playing you do not feel confident backing them but there is only one walking wicket in the side now and he his out. I am not unhappy with his 27 after 16.5 overs. KP and Bell have been protected. Still cloudy. England expects. we've been drinking all day and will be tomorrow. Old Boys after lunch. Leaving car at home! |

Am I the only one that thinks that Jones rebound catch to dismiss Warne was one of the best keeper catches of all time?
By:
Just saw that again!
No! You are not! |
By:
Carberry next man out within the first 5 overs.
By:
No thanks neccessary....
By:
KP top run scorer.
By:
unfortunately that was 6 overs bjt, so sadly you are not eligible for thanks.
By:
What part of no thanks necessary was difficult for you to understand?
By:
hard to say. it was bewildering in its entirety.
By:
Difficult I guess for somebody that asks somebody in Perth what the weather in Melbourne will do. For the record, that is the same as somebody asking old mate in Cyprus what the weather in London is like....
But then, for somebody that wishes to argue with me by repeating what I said, I imagine everything is a struggle. |
By:
Well Carberry has done a job in protecting the engine room but yet again he has not made best of a start and that is why I agree with RDG WIllis. He is not the future and I would have unfairly dropped him given Ballance at chance at his expense.
Also his batting coach should have suggested his stance may have contributed to his downfall against right arm round! |
By:
you don't have weather forecasts in australia then? good lord.
By:
I agree WD. problem is, if he comes out of this series top england scorer, it'll be hard to drop him.
By:
By:
Unfair to drop him but sometimes it has to be done. He won't be playing for England in June. Ballance needs a go.
England have been lucky today. I think Aus have been for all three games, chances going to hand, England dropping theirs. Not saying Aus have not outplayed England just England have been lucky today and I am with Napoleon. |

2.5 runs an over. Fcuking thrilling game of cricket going on here.
By:
Great shot Joe... Fcuk off.
By:
Pretty sure you drop Root before Carberry.
By:
good call West Coast!

Last 10 overs 2/10... Going at 2.4 an over for half a days play.
Worst team in world cricket to watch. |
By:
50 runs in the last 26 overs.
By:
england really are negative
By:
KP scored off 1 ball in the last hour.

I haven't got a problem with the run rate. This is a 5 day Test Match. England have not posted a decent total for a long time. A strike rate of 12 for KP is not a problem right now. Watson has gone and now England should go after Lyon as these 2 batsmen can hit him out of the attack.
It might not look good but England have a chance to win ugly here and after eating it for the last 3 Test's that is more than acceptable right now! |
By:
Give me a lucky General!
England very lucky today. He should have caught that! |
By:
He did catch it. Weren't you watching?
By:
Extremely lucky I would suggest
Coulter-Nile is an absolute class fielder so I expected him to throw that back in and catch it, Watson injured.. it's a tweak and won't effect his batting I wouldn't think, not as bad as you would think as we still have 4 front line bowlers The problem when you're not scoring runs at a good rate is that it **** with your head and allows the opposition to be ultra-aggressive which will inevitably lead to your dismissal |
By:
Pietersen escapewas maybe the lucky stroke England needed . Might just get a decent total .
By:
I dont know why he twisted his trajectory to take it face on instead of on the run. Could prove very costly.
The pitch is pretty good. Aus have not been put on back foot in whole series. These two England batsmen have the ability to attack Lyon with a soft ball and make the 3 seamers pick up the attack. Well as they are bowling the meter is running and mileage is being clocked up. If England make 300+ they are well in the game. No runners in Test Cricket, drop in pitch turning on day one and for once England getting the rub of the green even if they don't deserve it. Chance for England fans to recoup losses from the first test I believe! |

Need another 20-30 partnership here to cash in. Looking good to get at least that.
