Prior out, Broad Out (injured), Swann Out, Andersen optional.......................Bring in Monty, Boyd Rankin/Tremlett (play both if you want to omit Andersen), and give Bairstow the gloves
|

By:
No changes for Aussies
|
|
By:
may as well revamp the entire England team, got nothing to lose..
try to prevent a 5-0 hammering, again ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
So Prior out for Bairstow?
|
|
By:
Australia have their eyes firmly set on a 25-0 record before the end of this decade

Barstow is worse behind the stumps than Wade

Swann's retirement and Broad's injury means England's 9-10-Jack is likely to be something like Anderson, Tremlett/Finn and Panesar. So Bres definitely keeps his place at 8.
Also with Trott gone as well, England are running out of slip fielders (in the unlikely event of the ball being nicked). Can't see them getting out of this one. |

By:
Some showers forecast, but unlikely to affect the result.
Lay the draw looks the best option. |

By:
For Australia to overtake England on the Rankings, they have to win 4-0 or 5-0, For England to stay ahead of Australia on rankings they need 3-0, 3-2, 3-1, 4-1

Ronchi is in limbo in nz,maybe the poms could draft him in to keep, think he has some pommy family if you go back 12 generations

No point getting too creative, just back the winner at 1.82.

Morning Session runs predictions? If Australia Bat 1st for me the line is Under/Over 80.5 runs. If England Bat 1st for me the line is Under/Over 72.5 Runs

England are HUGE value at 4.9... Australia are still a dog **** cricket team. A few lucky wins (due to toss and umpiring decisions) don't mask that. England will win at the MCG you can be rest assured about that.

if there is one positive for England, England seem to lift a gear at the MCG, have beaten Australia 4 out of the last 8 times in Melbourne. In 2010, 1998,1986 & 1982 England won. England seem to lift a gear when playing at the 'Home of Cricket'.

diyer think a 5-0 lay is a decent bet @3.2

By:
If Australia don't win by an innings they should do the honorable thing and give the Ashes back. Lord knows they will probably win it the next 20 years anyway

if we cant win a test, the least we can do is send that horrible pedo rolf harris back home..

we are still looking at changing the bowling ( albeit we have to ) but the batting is the problem!
Finn for Broad, Monty for Swann. Barstad for Prior. Seem obvious. Trying to find room for Ballance is the problem. I was quite struck by what RDG Willis said. Well that Carberry has played first go he is not a long term solution and according to Willis does not have the ability the full range of skills at Test level. He advocates putting Root to open as he is the long term solution and bring in Ballance at 5, Bell to 3. I am perversely in favour of that. I am not anti KP, just disappointed and if he doesn't produce now someone else should be given a chance in June. |
|
By:
Apparently some green on the pitch and toss winner may be tempted to bowl.
England in with a chance IMO. |

her a look at the photo of MCG wicket from aggerscricket on twitter. Still feel like its the best option to bat 1st at MCG......... Doesnt look like too many cracks in the wicket as well. But having said that, it might not be a bad toss to lose.......but the old cliche 'if in doubt bat 1st' should be the play here
|
|
By:
Carberry looks like he's trying so hard all of the time that he can't relax and play his natural game. I doubt it will ever come because his place is never secure. cf. Bopara
The stars seem to be aligning for a big "f*ck all of you" innings (Swann and Boycott in particular) from KP. And christ I hope we finally see sense and play Finn. Everyone keeps droning on about his confidence, well here's an idea: select him (not getting selected when you've done nothing wrong isn't great for anyone's confidence) and tell him to bowl fast. |

too much wind coming out of engerland camp to give me any faith

Interesting to Note when England won the Ashes in 2005, 2009 and 2010 the Run rates for the matches they won: 4.32, 3.69, 3.96, 3.56, 3.46, 3.02, 3.26 (games played in Both Australia and England). Australia are beating England at their own games this series , the run rates for the Australian test matches so far have been:3.16, 3.23 and 3.56. Its one thing to play defensively but on Australian pitches you always have to be looking at scoring (as well as surviving at the same time)

Interesting little stat Last 3 Test matches @ MCG 'Morning Session Runs' has been (11 morning sessions in 3 Test matches) the average has been 71.63 runs Per Morning Session
|
|
By:
100 RUNS or More only been reached 1 time out of 21 combined 'Morning & Afternoon Sessions'
|
|
By:
^^^ From 3 Test Matches
|
|
By:
is it a bigger ground ? or is it just wicket/pitch issues ?
|
|
By:
^^^ I think its more the occasion as well as the 'drop in pitches'. Scoring is a bit more slower at the MCG compared to other Australian grounds
|
|
By:
Can't believe the draw price. In all three tests so far there have been no overs lost due to rain and it's going to be the same here. Surely it should be trading at $10+. I wouldn't even back the draw at $50 if I had to keep the bet. Throwing money away
|
|
By:
The way Clarke captains, he always tries to eliminate the draw at every opportunity
|
|
By:
Australia squad unchanged.
Weather a bit iffy tommorow with a low pressure area over Melbourne. Could see storms. |
|
By:
OZ put a couple of decent efforts in when they were over here..so ime expecting england to put a shift in..as ive layed the 5-0

Best time to bat on the MCG is on opening day....always has been , always will be no matter what the pitch throws up
|
|
By:
hopefully we finally win the toss and can put up a score.

if England win the toss and bat it's going to be a great days viewing as a Australian supporter
England, 3-0 down, team in turmoil in front of 90 thousand fans on boxing day.. yeah, good luck! |
