Report Lets Elope November 24, 2013 3:49 AM GMT
Good to see a very good and much maligned cricketer in Mitchell Johnson bounced back and shove it right up his knockers as he has worked his arrse off  over the past year building his body up and changing his action somewhat and regaining his control. He thoroughly deserved his recall and for the most part  has bowled beautifully and made an enormous contribution with the bat again as well. Australia lost the last series against the poms through some shocking mental lapses over the period of an hour or so in several tests and the Poms outright cheating to deliberately delay the game in one of those tests.
As I maintained at the start of the last series we're a fairly average side to say the least but the Poms are undoubtedly the most over rated team in sporting history.
Finally its been great to see the Aussies playing some aggressive cricket again on the back of some really good bowling efforts from Harris, Johnson even Lyon has bowled pretty well.
Spoon as usual hilarious, BJT you always have a problem with Johnson for some reason and never seem to give him credit when credit is due.
Who else would you have in the side instead who can bowl at his pace and genuinely intimidate batsman and no I haven't had a bet I don't bet on cricket as a rule, just happy to see the Aussies actually play some decent cricket for a change against a massively overrated mob of primadonnas

I think I should take this opportunity to say well done to those English posters who have been gracious in defeat. The series will obviously have plenty of live yet.

We also trust you understand that some of the other threads are directed at the disgusting English mugs who have represented your country on the Australian forum in recent times. Amazingly, a couple of them have gone missing.

To those of you with some sense (which there appear more than a few), good luck in Adelaide in a week and a half Grin
Report Wallflower November 24, 2013 11:47 AM GMT
Great start to the series I must say, lots of positives :

- First and foremost, and most importantlyCool, 10% win of bank for Wallflower.....was up to 13.5% but gave away 3.5% laying the Aussies hoping for a draw....no regrets, this is "best practice" in my view
- I try to remain neutral (essential for betting/trading) but it was hard not to deep-down support the Aussies, 0-3 last summer was not a fair reflection in the difference between the teams. I thought overall England were better but not by that much.
- Obviously sets-up the series nicely
- I agree with the view that England are over-rated, they are a good side, but I (like many) have had reservations. Great sides are generally "feared"; England are respected, but not feared by the major teams
- Looking forward to the English response to a buoyant Australia, dubious form, some dents in overall confidence, Aussie's obvious knowledge of their strengths/weaknesses - really good teams will find a way
- Australia? Would like to see them in a close contest. They failed in England at pivotal moments where they made dreadful mistakes. It remains to be see can they win under real pressure. England have often snatched draws from looming defeats, and wins from looming draws.....Aussies, the opposite.

Looking forward to the 2nd Test as much as any match in recent times.

Burnley, as in the "town" about 40 kms from Manchester of 500k population, and about 50kms from leeds with 757000 and however many others in the immediate area?
Your town, would be considered a suburb here.

So the real comparison, would be Wooloongabba, with a population of about 4,800, nearly sold out the cricket through no help from any surrounding area whatsoever.....

Great match. Credit to Haddin and MJ for the rescue partnership on Day 1.

Superb test pitch. Oh for bounce and pace in england....

Very well played Australia. Enjoy!

Neither team, sadly, is able to take defeat graciously which a is a blight on the great game.

I would say in the last 3 series, Oz have been better losers than we are.

Trott's sledging was an embarrassment. Jimmy has always been 2 faced. Charming off the pitch, narky on it.

When I played I laughed in the face of sledges. It's juvenile and 2-faced. Slag me off when batting then shake my hand afterwards when I'd taken them for plenty..

**** off! I'd have more respect for an opponent who's consistent...
