I agree Peter but sport must, simply must come first.

There was no danger, there was no risk, just incredible sport.

Millions of lay cricket followers would have seen that and reacted with bewilderment.

For once, cricket MUST see the bigger picture instead of being up it's own arse.

then you are asking the umpires to make up rules as they go along.....one rule for 2 days ago and cos its close and exciting now we will change the rules and continue playing

Really can't see what the problem is ..both teams play to the rules and rules are rules and evermore shall be so. Draw backers had a great opportunity in the last 15 minutes or so.

Earlier in the series criticising umpires for making wrong decisions, now booing them for making the right ones CrazyCry

id happily make em bowl in a tsunami if the bowling team is deliberately taking forever to avoid losing. nobody is asking the umpires to do **** all, theyre saying the laws are bloody hopeless.

3-0 will do.  Got to admit, that was pretty funny!  Starc/Clarke timewasting first and then the light situation.  Umpires done the right thing.  Can't change the rules just because England were going to win.

umpires just applied the rules so right decision to come off.

Rules need changing, need to play on if there are artificial lights, otherwise what's the point in having the lights? If the lights are n't good enough, then get ones that are.

Then issue will be that not all Test venues have lights, well get 'em - there's enough money in the game.

No different from any captain  at the end of any one day match in any light imo

I suspect Australia's time wasting cost about a minute in total. It had no bearing on the result.

artificial lights don't work too well with a red ball

Harris seems a nice bloke, Watson too.

Just a shame they have to play under that tool.

the rules should allow umpires discretion in a situation when a finish is imminent.

but they don't, so the umpires can hardly implement that unilaterally.

If you are deliberately wasting time ( which ever team you are ) the umpires should take that into consideration

it has to be said that australia were in an unfair position, where fielders could not pick up the ball

Maybe they did and decided they should have gone off 30 overs earlier.

Umpires are a cancer.

They are hat racks and love to remove players from the field. See it for years. They get high on it.

This was international sport watched by millions all around the globe yet the umpires and their sill meters have the last word. Staggering.

Show some ****g intelligence and foresight. See the bigger picture. For once officiate the game don't pander to stupid regs. They fail to implement other regs such as sub fielders, unofficial drinks breaks etc, so why the **** can't they stay on the pitch?

It makes you wonder if it was a bit of a fix to give the crowd a good days play and screw over bettors, I bet most of the day 1-4 draw backers got wiped out limiting their losses and England backers didn't win either.
By:
peterinbury
When: 25 Aug 13 19:59
cos they went off 2 days ago with the same light conditions, no one complained then

If it wasn't pre-arranged surely Clarke will be sacked? How could he possibly believe they could bowl England out? They were hanging on for nearly the whole England innings thanks to his crazy decision, don't think the aussies will like what he did.
