Can't see Pieterson lasting long. Down to Trott, Bell and Prior if we want a decent score.

Has Watson finished his homework yet ?

1st session to Australia
By:
Honours even.
By:
1st session england for me
By:
An ok start by us, not good but not terrible either. Trott looks like he could bat all 5 days.
By:
Market suggests England had the better of the morning session and I tend to agree.
By:
If one side edged it, it was England.
By:
Yeah - I think England should be fairly satisfied with the start under these conditions. Should get 400+ now
By:
Only thing that gives that session to England is Trott who is looking pretty solid. Bowling hasn't been too great, but danger popping up every now and again. Ball will move and Aus need to take advantage of it. Can see them falling around Trott, he becomes a massive wicket now and the key to their innings.
Slightly England for now. |
By:
not sure i'd be so hard there.
australia failed to contained england in that session and made limited inroads. there was a chance in these conditions to do better and i suspect england would have done. |
By:
I think Jimmy Anderson would have picked up 2 or 3 this morning had they been bowling
By:
350 a minimum target from here for England. Obviously a key period after lunch as an early wicket could see England 170-5 and a different complexion on the innings. I'm already struggling to see how Aus can compete throughout the series given the seeming lack of penetrative bowling?
Of course as ever we'll know more once England have the ball in hand... |
By:
Michael Holding always valuable in the commentary box ' England should be looking to build now ' -
By:
australia can definitely compete.
be in doubt that starc and pattinson can be pretty devastating if it all clicks. their problem is their inconsistency, but there will defintely be sessions this series when they cause england a whole heap of trouble with the new ball. the problem is that australia need to hope it happens at a pivotal moment and that they can withstand what our better bowlers throw at them. |

By:
what price the draw when england get 400?
