The aussies will tear us a new one in this test.

anybody else hoping we lose the toss and bowl?
we are notoriously bad in the first test of any series.  what a mark it would make to have the aussies in and skittle them for under 250.
COME ON ENGLAND

Their performance in india is the big reason behind thinking they are rubbish.  But they did ok v saffers.  The chances of us thrashing them are similar to the odds they win.  I expect we will win by one or two tests, ie. not a proper thrashing.

I think they are much better now than in 2010/11.  Hussey a loss, but not punter, he was awful in that series,  Clarke has stepped up and they have better bowlers than then.

tbh, Clarke's fitness concerns me. I don't see him getting thru 5 tests. Which makes me think series win for Eng whatever the outcome of the 1st test.

Think England win series, but if Aus bat first tomorrow and England as toothless as they sometimes are on a flat deck then there could be some scoreboard pressure when Eng come out to bat.

not having the aussie's at all.  A vast class difference imo - how many of the aus players would get into the England side?  Clarke probably the only one.  Weather may save aus now and then but just don't see them winning a test in England.

If this new set of Aussie bowlers, can give us some problems, we will have a good series, but if they don't - then its going to be a long series for the Aussies. However I think, they will surprise us and what is wanted is a tight series, as it makes it that more exciting, 2 England wins in the first 2 Tests will make it all rather tedious from then on.

What time do they bat off? 11am?

2 wins for england in the first 13 days would be cracking.  So many people saying it wont be as easy as we are expecting makes me think we arent all thinking it will be easy.  Who is saying it will be 5-0, except perennial joker Botham?

G0d, I hope England don't bat tommorow. I haven't watched a cricket match in 6 months and I couldn't bear to watch Trott score at 10 runs an hour.

I would be well happy to see trott 80 not out and England 250/2 end of day 1.

Draw shortening and England drifting for no apparent reason. Probably, because you lazy pommie buuggers haven't woken up yet.

I am seriously thinking of having a bet on the toss!

Lay England big around evens.  If Aussie win toss and bat then I think England may have some problems and will let the bet ride and hope Aussie can put up a fight with bat in hand.  The pitch must be good and dry.

If England win the toss then I will buy it back for a hopefully less than 10% loss!

The Aussie team compostition is also extremely exciting.  I was hoping Smith would play but the left arm filth bowler is so left field it's in the Irish Sea.  The consensus is he can bowl or hold an end up.  Personally I would leave Siddle out

Watson
Rogers
Limp Wrist Warner
Clarke
Cowan
Smith
Haddin
Starc
Pattinson
Lyon
Agar Agar

I'd leave out Hughes ( a walking wicket imho ) and Khwaja ( could be a good player I think but I like Smith )

Watson could bowl 1st change in the first innings.

It is a big risk but England are clearly the better side imho and this would set the cat amongst the pidgeons, crazy but unnerving for England.

Hasnt swung at TB all summer according to the interview with the groundsman this morning. Said it hasdnt turned much either so sounds a batting paradise.

It hasn't swung all summer in any form of the game that I have seen. I haven't seen swing once in any match apart from the odd ball.

Well I threw my money down on the draw and also opposing England in case Aussie win the toss as it might put England out of the game by tomorrow afternoon ( betting wise ).

yes I think Aussie will need early wickets this morning or pull it back till after tea and see if the ball will swing or maybe reverse.  I think it reverses better at pace and all three seamers bowl 90mph.  Whatever this is now officially exciting.  How they get worked up at tennis God only knows!
