SA been far too negative in their approach. Allowing England to set aggressive fields etc. Peterson the only one that took the game to them and had them thinking.
Small lay of England for me now at these odds. Du plessis looks decent and I quite rate miller.
petersson was the designated pinch hitter. given the scorelines new batsmen have been coming into, there's not much else you would expect in terms of approach.

Each to their own @Dirk/DStyle. I guarantee you that India's approach in the final will not allow England to bowl like this. First 2 wickets themselves were very negative - ingram too slow getting the bat down playing defensive, amla gets an edge attempting to pull his bat out of a shot!

I chucked some green away on them needlessly Footiefan. Not losing overall, but wasted some cash when I should have left it alone with England in control.

amla and ingram were out facing less than 6 balls each against two very good new ball bowlers in swinging conditions. how you can infer something about "their approach" over 5 and 4 balls respectively is questionable.
you can't compare it to india on a road in the sun. dhawan and sharma would have been out cheaply if they went after it today in the same conditions.

Amazing how they can bat when there is nothing left to lose. The early wickets have a huge psychological effect on the middle order of most teams.
I guarantee you that India's approach in the final will not allow England to bowl like this.

agree - think they will win easily. By 9/10 wickets even. Type of game where you can see Bell top scoring.
4 overs is not a good indication but their approach is negative to begin with
doesn't really need to be ott positive. Nothing total, keep wickets in hand and it's a stroll.

It's one of them totals which should be used to bat through and bump up your average. Perfect for England's top 3.

Bring back Sir Geoff and B7umble to open, and Naz No 3. We wouldnt get there quick but we'd get there

Another bottle job, well executed by South Aftica, but England did play well.
Maybe SA choked, but imho it's more about the lack of Smith, Kallis, Steyn and Morkel. Very few sides could cope without 3 quality bowlers and 2 experienced batsmen. Just think SA's team in this tournament has been poor. Only team they beat was Pakistan (who forgot to bring any batting and who also rival Australia for the title of worst team in the event), should have lost to WI and were never really in the games against India and England.
Generally enjoyed the Champions Trophy this year, but two disappointments have been the weather and India excepted, a lack of quality in the teams.
