Crippled Crims classless and clueless without Clarke....

... sod the alliteration, fancy a humdinger as both sides choke from time to time.  260+ wins it batting first imo, but all opinions welcome.

its only cause its home advantage they are strong fav, Englands death bowling is poor
Report Srichaphan or Ancic? June 8, 2013 4:54 PM BST
England odds are too low, these two are good batsmen, Bailey captaining the sides and Voges who can start hitting big when he gets going.

Report Only-the-Brave June 8, 2013 5:00 PM BST
If they can get to the pp at around 135/3 it'd give them a small chance.  Would leave them with a RRR of 9 with pp overs to come.  Not that I see it happening, but for them to have something to launch from and potentially go close they need to be somewhere around that you'd think.  Has to be said though, noone in this lineup looks like they can score at 7 an over, let alone 9/10 when needed.
Report GRANTCKING June 8, 2013 5:00 PM BST

Report Srichaphan or Ancic? June 8, 2013 5:12 PM BST
I think everyone knows Australia are not on good terms with their selectors, so they probably lack some of the team attitude they have had previously - any success says the selectors have made the correct choices, and so its a tricky situation for them.

looked to me like it bounced too.  Makes no difference either way though, Aus not even going to get close.
Report Srichaphan or Ancic? June 8, 2013 5:31 PM BST
sometimes I think the third umpire actually listens to commentary and judges from what they are saying.
Report 1alph1 June 8, 2013 5:31 PM BST
out. did not bounce
Report Fallen Angel June 8, 2013 5:33 PM BST
the commentators seem to have convinced themselves that 300 was required. Maybe Cook knows perfectly well it was about putting a defendable score on the board and letting a decent bowling attack do their thing.
Report Only-the-Brave June 8, 2013 5:37 PM BST
Aus surely more concerned about batting out the overs now.  Net run rate could become an issue for them later in the tournament.
Report Captain Wurzel June 8, 2013 5:38 PM BST
I think they made sure they were going to get a decent score and if Morgan/Buttler came off a really good one.
Report Only-the-Brave June 8, 2013 5:38 PM BST

Hope England get on with this so I can get my money and move on :)
Report Only-the-Brave June 8, 2013 5:41 PM BST
if aus concentrate on net run rate and batting through now, 8/1 with pp about team of top runscorer to be aus could be worth an interest punt.  Needs another 37 runs.
Report Injera June 8, 2013 5:41 PM BST
The reverse swing has been a pleasant surprise. From Australia's slower balls you could see Tredders and Root would prosper
Report fronter June 8, 2013 5:43 PM BST

Report ayt June 8, 2013 6:28 PM BST
does anybody know what was the runline to start in first innings?
Report sickoflayinwinners June 8, 2013 6:30 PM BST
to be honest I reckon  the lions share of 300 was par, we were below they were pitifull, worrying thing for England is they may believe that their sc ore was  so good and that a poor batting side look aus had very little chance of chasing it down , I still think india, windies, saffers and co would breezed up .

Report Fallen Angel June 8, 2013 6:35 PM BST
India I agree, but WI, too inconsistent
Report sickoflayinwinners June 8, 2013 6:39 PM BST
inconsistency may not rule teams out, once the group games are over it will be more about producing something special as you have to win two games against the the more inform teams.i do accept England don't always need quite as many runs as the other sides as they usually bowl a touch better than the oponents.t6o be fair any one of the 8 sides  have some kind of chance of winning the whole shebang.
Report Fallen Angel June 8, 2013 6:50 PM BST
we will see, Eng needed to win 2/3 games to be semi-finalists plus a nice boast to the NRR, I agree you might need something more in the last two games but the bowling attack is the class of the competition. They have a fighters chance
Report sickoflayinwinners June 8, 2013 7:00 PM BST
of course they have  chance , they should qualify now having got a win in the bank but the batting tactics aree certainly a worry.
