Okaie..lost 25 quids backing England on 50s...ffs never gave it a fight..

By:
England were 2 bowlers short and didn't have a game plan for dealing with the opposition.
It was a good wicket and NZ took their chance superbly. Trott is not adding anything by batting through. The word might be out not to get him out as it ties one end up. At least he didn't lose his head today but replacing him with KP would make much more sense unless he were to open and protect the middle order against the new balls. |
By:
England need to vince and carberry in to the team
By:
would strengthen the batting
By:
I'd be dropping that waste of space Dernbach before worrying about Trott's place
By:
why is trott going for singles, surely he has to tee off and face all the bowling

It helps if your top order batsmen have some brains aswell as brawn.
Perfect batting pitch. Bell out to an idiotic shot at the time. Trott had just come in, and Bell had scored all the runs in the partnership at that time. Some thought and this total was not out of reach. Time and time again, gets himself in only to get HIMSELF out. Same applies to Root, excellent partnership developing between him and Trott, no need to rush excessively but after missing out again with that silly unnecessary paddle sweep a little earlier, dances down the pitch and does't time the big hit. Where do you go with the last chance saloon Morgan. First or second ball of the new part time bowler, no idea of his pace and slashes himself back to the pavilion. GSM Some idiotic batting from some overpaid idiots. |

Stitch that TROTT haters.
By:
Village green stuff from Buttler, Woakes, Bresnan.
By:
Village Idiot stuff would be more apt Mick!
This isn't Trott's fault agreed but he is no Kallis and batting at 3 is like having a bowler like Dernbach giving away 7 or 8 an over. South Africa, Australia, India, Windies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and even NZ have Batsmen who can go through the gears. England only have KP. That is not Trott's fault but he offers no solution either. Mind you neither do Bell or Morgan at present |
By:
as i said earlier its always worth a punt on there being a run out when Trott is batting.
That particular stat has shown a reasonable profit in 1 day ODI matches. Its not the twaddle remark that 1 person suggested it was. Its fact Good luck all |
By:
you wont win many odis with Bell, Cook and Trott batting 123 and woakes, bresnan and dernbach bowling all in the same team-and it doesnt matter how well you think bres and woakes can bat
how long before Ashley "gets it" if at all? |
By:
not much point picking holes in the batting when chasing such a huge total. sure they batted poorly on friday but it was lost today by having 17 overs of dross served up by dernbach and woakes. 300 was probably around par on that track
i'm sure trott would get less criticism if he kept getting out first ball. he does his job. it's the others around him like bell who keeps getting in and then getting out in very soft ways. doesn't help that morgan has had no cricket recently but that's his own fault for chasing the IPL money |

Whisperingdeath
It is well known Trott needs to play himself in, so Bell had no need to go after the bowling as he did at that time. Trott had played 14 dot balls, Bell could have just tried to nudge it around for a while, England were well ahead of the NZ overs/runs total when Bell got out. Trott has ended batting through. What a difference a Bell/Trott partnership could have done to the result. Once Trott had got himself well established he could have stayed there all day. As normal, no matter how slow he starts, when he gets a ton he bats at around a run a ball. Root and especially Morgan, as he is the one player playing at the moment who can accelerate, need to look at themselves. Root already had a 'calm down' from Trott after the unsuccessful paddle sweep. But Morgan has been outdone by a part time bowler due to his lack of patience. Poor really. |

By:
Mick,
I think the point is at the moment it doesn't matter. The other batsmen are a bigger problem. Trott isn't the problem just symptomatic of not being the answer to England's needs. The biggest problem is selection. Dernbach and Woakes are not ready at this level. Could Tremlett have played? He should be understudy to Finn in any case. England just do not seem to have a game plan and haven't had one for years. |

Egland have been up and down for about twenty years now inthe fifty over game. Pull off some really good series wins interspersed with an equal nmber of abject performances. In fact the fact weve been outplayed by NZ here means we are probably due a good performance... Probably at the Champions trophy. Doesnt really bother me so long as we win the ashes.
By:
england have actually been very good in one dayers over the the past couple of years especially at home
bit concerning that the depth of our bowling resources has been exposed in these 2 games. obviously in tests you only need 4 bowlers and with swann able to wheel away forever at one end you can get away with it more. could really do with tremlett available again and onions finding some form. seems he's been discarded after a nightmare warm up game in new zealand |
By:
Too many average players.... Woakes, Butler, Dernbach, Morgan. Then you got the defensive batsman. Cook, Trott and Bell.

Amusing thread. The red turkeys were never chasing 360 in their wildest dreams. They wouldn't if my mother bowled at them. Free monies for all. Hope you cashed in
