A good hiding might be a good thing going into ashes.  With the way oz are playing right now there is a danger of becoming complacent

i would say i also have NZ neutral and a decent red under the draw

I am green England and red on NZ and draw. Shorting the draw from the off has been a relatively good strategy in general terms but can't expect to win them all. That said there's still 4 days to go.

it was just a joke comment as a wicket fell as soon as i read that comment. i am big green on the draw, nz happy to draw the series 0-0 was talked about plenty at the end of the 2nd test, but by the beginning of this one, everyone thought this was going to be an easy result wicket

Likewise my comment. NZ reluctant to push on and just want to conserve wickets.

It's tough bowling on the flattest track south of Bonneville but two wickets so far this session is encouraging.

england have been short odds every match this series

winning the toss and bowling 1st has to be one of the worst decision ever

could have racked up 600 here england and try to bring panesar into the game if the pitch offered anything

Am I right in thinking that the longer the 1st innings go on for, the greater the chance of a draw (due to time constraints)?
By:
peckerdunne
When: 23 Mar 13 01:04
yes but not if it means only 3 innings required for a win.

In theory yes but only if the team batting second can bat for just as long as well.

If NZ get 550-600 then England need at least 350-400 to avoid following on. If they avoid the follow on and get towards 500+ it'll be a draw.

If England didn't get 350 they'd follow on and face a battle to save the match

Dont't understand all the complaints about the pitch.  Bowling has been defensive and average by England.

Poor bowling from  don't care how flat the pitches are new zealand should not be posting big score after big score against you.  England have been pretty average the last 12-15 months apart from that India Series win.

Has anybody considered that New Zealand may actually win this one.

As I write Compton 12 from 62 does this say something about the pitch now. I think it's a small field and expected loads of sixes oh well. Lay the draw I think.

11 wickets in day.  What more do you want in test pitch?  England bowling and tactics were very average.

not until N.Z. go odds on - then you will hear about how everyone has them on side.
