no international team bowls 35 to 40 overs in a 2 hour session of play

I confess to having no fiduciary interest in this game so I am enjoying the Circus and the circus music!  Just need Benny Hill running across the pitch now!

He's only had one first-class innings in five months, and that was in the first innings. He's been chucked in at the deep end.

60 overs to block out? Ian Bell, Bairstow then Prior..........think the remaining batsman wont hang around too long

Come on Footie, Broad's hundred came against Pakistan!  Having said that the pitch is reasonable.  I would say Prior is the one who may make the difference.  These two need to see off the new ball.  That's what the match rests on for me, well maybe not.

What are the chances of another Panesar/Anderson partnership to save the day?

Long way to go before anything like that. Can't afford to lose more than one more wicket to this new ball.

i took some 500 plus england ..just on the off chance we see a few positive strokes and the market panics allowing me to lay at 150ish

323 off 60 overs, that would be a hard in an ODI match let alone test matc

No chance Sweet good luck to you if you can but the best you can hope for is a field crowded round the bat yielding runs to encourage England to continue with scoring shots.
