NZ looked nailed on at least to get a DRAW with 1 ball left.

He would have been better to try and bowl a yorker

Not Franklin's fault you all lost your money. Nothing wrong with that last ball, if it wasn't for him NZ wouldn't have been in this match (or either of the first two matches)

Just shows why this forum is terrible nowadays

wide and short=bad ball

no. it's about bowling where the batsman doesn't expect it. you don't want to bowl a yorker as that's where McLaren was expecting it and is ready to paddle it down to the boundary.

there's only one person to blame for you losing your money (and why you probably lose regularly), and it's not James Franklin

cnman - ur talking nonsense.  No one is slating him for his previous plays.  The last BALL was BRUTAL.  Fook sake man a 6 came of it.  How is that NOT a bad bowl? Pleae explain how it could not have been a bad bowl when a boundary comes of it.  I won £1k on SA with 3K off the NZ.

a 6 coming off it isn't any different to a 4 though is it in this situation? it's not relevant whether it goes for a 4 or 6. just because a ball goes for 6 that doesn't mean it's a bad ball. a back of a length ball was the right-decision there, it just didn't come off that time.

if he'd tried to bowl a yorker and got it slightly wrong and it was a full-toss that got hit for 4 everyone would've blamed him

if he'd bowled a length ball and it got smashed over cow-corner for 6 everyone would've blamed him.

he very nearly defended 8 off the last over, which is very difficult to do.

at the end of the day people on here can't blame themselves for losing money, and that's why they continue to do so rather than give up. It's because of people like that that the good posters have left this forum and use twitter instead

i don't think it was the best ball he could have bowled given that south africa realistically needed a boundary to win. a full wide yorker or a wide slower ball bouncer would have been better imho, but it wasn't a terrible idea: you're expecting it to be cut and you've got protection. regardless, it was good batting from mclaren.

you're of course right that if either of the two suggestions i put forward aren't executed properly there's the risk they can go as well.

if you wanted to pick out some dumb bowling, McClenaghan's bowling to smith at the start and a bits at the death (bouncing Kleinveldt with fine leg inside the circle) gets the award

A straight up bouncer not wide would have been my choice. Thats sport folks.

in my one and only game of cricket...a t20 match played on the oval, i got hit for 6 off the last ball when the opps needed 4to win off the last ball....  I was gutted.

g.Hick had just retired 25* not out 4 balls into the over, next ball i took my first ever wicket with a ball i managed to york the number 11 and i celebrated afridi style. LaughCool  (hands up in the air / not the moonwalk on a good length)

in walked their number 1 already 25*, i touched the pitch warne like, asked the umps what would croft do and was told ..bowl a slow one.  I did and went catch it... catch it...catch it in the crowd. and that was that.  Then i had to do an interview for betfair totally dejected.  Geraint jones tryed to cheer us up but i was so down.  lol.. great day tho.

and makes me laugh now, everytime one of these pro's gets knocked for a six last ball to decide the match.  have a little thought of that match. SadLaugh

Could somebody please tell me the odds before the final ball (three runs were needed to win, two for the tie).

Many thanks.

think it was something like 2.4 South Africa / 1.68 NZ ?

fluctuated loads, think lowest NZ went before the ball was bowled was about 1.48ish briefly
