Get the roller on and who knows after what we have seen so far. I dont think 100 will win it, 150 surely will but India look likely to be well short. What a day of cricket though.
India's batsmen came up short in the first innings and their bowlers were simply not as effective as England's on a spinning wicket. Love the irony of that one. Good to see all the Sikh's supporting Monty over there. I love this game! Just wish I had some green on England and happy not to be in red to them. |

Can India get another 8 runs - 3% overnight if you think so.

Yes - I'm not a big fan of Pieterson personally but there's no doubt he's a necessary evil and without him here we would have been in deep sh1te again.

I am a big fan of Pietersen. I don't go drinking with him, just watch him bat. He rises to the big occasion not against Windies, Bangla, NZ and Zim where plenty of batsmen pad their averages. I don't care what highly paid sports professionals do or how they act off field. He is disciplined and trains real hard. Some of the others could do with following his example.
This has been a really great game of cricket. I still might make money on it but at least I am not losing any! |

Totally agree with whispering death. I still have my reservations about having saffers in the time, but we are playing to the rules, theyre here, get used to it. An awesome player. Remember him playing first class cricket in saffers unpaid to try and get into form for the last ashes.

I actually suspect he is a bit of a bellend having seen the way he acts sometimes, and i dont think he is the sharpest tool in the box, best off keeping him off twitter and out of press conferences etc as he always speaks before he thinks. But what a batsman.

ENG at 1.11 looks good for a pull back to 1.08 pre-match tomorrow.

its a tricky one ismt it Wurzel, perhaps he works on Sundays?
in the meantime, this could be one of the great victories if we consider what came before it. An Indian captain indignantly stating he wants a pitch that turns from day 1 (and that is his prerogative), he won the toss, eng then let things slip after 119/5 with the fielding that has been a feature of their 2012. lest we forget the Great One, I too have no problem with KP and i accord with those that state he trains hard. Apparently George Best was the first at the training ground and the last to leave and he had a few problems both for himself and managers. Not for fans though who wherever you come from or support, you have to say no-one else could play footy like George or bat like KP. be nice if Eng could win the remaining two tosses. India's ragging square strategy (tomorrow notwithstanding) may need revisiting GL all tomorrow How did Betfair know about no day 5? |

i don't wish to get too carried away by what appears to be a certain win, but england winning this series would be probably the most satisfying sporting result of the year for me.
there's something about a prevailing attitude that i find incredibly unsavoury, petulant and immature: that the only reason india lost 4-0 in england was because of favourable home conditions, and OBVIOUSLY if the tables are turned so too will the result. the truth of the matter is that, with the exception of Dravid, India were facking sh1t in 2011. They were unfit, under motivated, whiny and defeatist and deserved the drubbing they got. it had very little to do with pitches and home advantage. despite the point being so obviously flawed, i have no desire for any indian supporter to feel that that very argument carries any weight, and to lose this series in the pursuit of proving just that point would be extremely satifying. |

Am i the only one thinking that gambhir is only interested in carrying his bat. that last two was almost an attempt to run ohja out?!? Everything he has done this morning suggests his aim is to end not out, and not a lot more

Great post dstyle - A lot of the Indians stated that England prepared greentops when they toured - what greentop was prepared ? Lords ?, The Oval?, Edgbaston? the only wicket that could be described as such was Trent Bridge and that is the natural characteristic of the ground. The reasons for India's humiliation have been brilliantly outlined by dstyle ![]() |

MS asked for a pitch with more turn and bounce.
![]() Pretty obvious that Indian players are little better against high quality spin on turning pitches than anyone else. What will he ask for next...? |

Aleem Dar has probably been the best umpire for the last five years, but his performance in this match has been completely at odds with that.
