It looked just outside off, had to be umpires call but unlucky England
By:
That was very unlucky. Match turning point there.

By:
Umpires not giving much very pleasing to see England out of reviews.

By:
i think that was out
By:
This part of review system needs tinkered with as umpires call often deals with the area of the dismissal that the umpire had decided was already out
By:
can someone explain that to me as i'm watching it without sound so can't hear what they were saying. If the replay shows it hit his pad and was going to hit the stumps, how can it be given not out? Does the reviewer not see the same replays we see on tv?
By:
outside the line...
By:
More than 50% of the ball was outside the line of the stumps on impact. Was about 55% Biscuit.
By:
is that even the rule though?
surely if any of the ball is on that line its out? |
By:
You cannot be given out if you are playing a shot and the ball hits the pad outside the line of off stump
By:
to over rule it needs to be over 50%
By:
it dont matter if its smashing all 3 wickets.... it was outside the line...
By:
i know that but surely if any of the ball is on the line you are not outside the line.
By:
Bold statement but I believe that decision will ensure South Africa go to number one. Test match there I predict.
By:
well no if it had been given out it would have stayed out. In the laws he was hit inline but for the purposes of drs it stays with whatever the umpire said
By:
If the ball hits the batsman outside the line of the off stump and the batsman was playing a genuine shot (but missed the ball), then he cannot be given out.
thats the rule, which infers to me that the whole of the ball needs to be outside the line to save the batsman. |
By:
To clarify, for example in the AB decision there the umpire may well have decided it hit in line and given not out for another reason, ie thought there was an edge or it was missing.
By:
More bad news, Alice Cooper didn't bring the snake!
By:
yes but we're talking about overuling with drs, not what the lbw law is. any part of the ball hitting in line can be given out, but to overturn a not out it needs to be over 50%
By:
The issue you have there is that different umpires may have a different interpretation of the outside the line rule.
there is no 50% of the ball bollocks in the rule book so not sue why it is used here. |
By:
Doubt is all you need to stay with the umpire. Which is why the JK decision earlier so what utterly ridiculous.
By:
there is when it comes to drs, hawkeye tells them whether over 50% hit in line or not. It's the same as if its just clipping the stumps thats not enough to overturn
By:
think saffers are ****ed now...
By:
Big trouble for SA! and me!

By:

JR being pinned down by Swann isn't helping Saffers.

Anything above 200 is a bonus for SA. 250 might see them save the match
