i never understood the idea of a night watchman ?? if you pick ur batsmen then they should come to the middle whenever they are needed ....
|
|
By:
the reasoning is that if you assume that your best batsmen are at their most vulnerable when they are starting their innings, it's a unnecessary risk to force them to have to start twice.

even if SA get bowled out by lunch and ENG end the day say 180-5 disruptions both Saturday and Sunday (likely to be long) mean it's going to be a real struggle to get a result yet the odds are still over 2. Can't quite fathom it.
|
|
By:
what do you think about the pitch nige? it looks to be going a bit up and down already. SA bowlers be
licking their lips thinking about bowling on it in overcast conditions i fear. |
|
By:
Amazed at how great people think they are at forecasting the weather!
the thing with these summer showers is they don't tend to be for such prolonged periods. Saturday and Sunday are now forecast for only a 30% chance of rain with "few showers". Other forecasts make rain more likely but as Lix has rightly pointed out earlier, time played around showers under grey skies often produce wickets. All in all you might lose 20 overs in a day but the other 70 overs will be much tougher to bat in because of those conditions. |
|
By:
yeah. 70 overs in overcast conditions at Leeds will generally produce a lot more wkts than 90 under blue skies.
|
|
By:
Ball still new quite feasible we bowl SA out for 350. Its predicted to be cloudy and could see SA getting us out for 150 and a sneeky chance of the follow on. Looking at the forecast today Monday now looks a worry but the thing about Headingley is a cloudy day it does so much and a sunny day opens up the cracks for more uneven bounce later in the test. I think Steyn will rip through Eng today.

big morning session here
England bowl well and that 4/1 could look big. weather forecast improving |
|
By:
mornin gents .
the betting god has arrived , |

By:
I'm back on SA here.. radar is pretty clear for the next few hours if SA can get another 100 runs they could skittle ENG out for 250-300 in cloudy conditions

There is life in this wicket with the new ball. I strongly fancy SA at 3.05 at the moment. At 262/5 (one just being the night watchman) I think they are above par.
