Hey Bravado. Will follow you on there.
Mass exodus onto Twitter and the quality is far better with no unnecessary fix talk. Doesnt give the same flexibiltiy as the forum though. Miss the good old days of the forum where we had some healthly discussion and information sharing. Has turned totally gash these days. |

Tell me about it! Used it for the first time this weekend - good to see proper conversation again!!

lmao. Sums it up perfectly. They look to destroy anything here even a thread like this
|
|

seriously? Twitter is the reason the betfair forum died??
|

Tried starting 2 threads on 1 particular game. One ENglish, No fix talk, no swearing, no hindi/urdu and a second one with all of that allowed.
Didnt last as the clowns came onto the 1st thread and started dirtying it. I thought the BBL threads were terrible, BPL has been atrocious and I shudder to think what the IPL will be. These threads make Morsey "Full bank JOb, Dot Dot Dot" posts seem ananlytical and well thought through. Today it is "DHaka will, so I will lay Chittagong at 1.6 then back them at 2.6 then back Dhaka again"when they touch 4 - No sense, no logic and no insight Betfair should take action that if you block someone you dont see anythin about them or have the options of a private thread or some other option if they want this forum to have a sensible discussions again. |

Personally i'm not really a fan of Twitter compared to the same chatter in a forum as it's better to follow and I think comments work better than being the twitter type broadcasts or directs. However as everyone has moved to twitter rather than another forum that has become the way to go. Bravado do we now get your former blog as a twitter size post..ie; "out at a model party, size 0, 2 cup, 1 hole" "woke at 5am to realise i'd missed start of cricket and face buried in a 22stone wobble, bad times" |

rohit - I've sent you a message about this: hope you are able to reply

I have followed this forum for a long time with great admiration but never posted a great deal. Some very informative and interesting discussions. I agree that it has been completely hijacked now. People talking about inside tips???? Ghastly.

Betfair Community Manager I have responded to your Personal Message.
Happy to give you my suggestions on how we can improve this forum and get rid of all the course |
|
By:
Had a chat with the Betfair Forum Manager. He does have plans (which I think should do the trick)to clean up the forum and get rid of some of the clowns on here. Says it will take 3-4 weeks by for it to be implemented.
He suggested there are more vigilant if someone is reported now for Bad Language, Any other language apart from English, Spam and unnecessary fix talk Suggest you use that option to rid the forum of these clowns. |

I seems they more bother about new web-site look with b365 style favourite bookmarks at the moment. Lets see though, something really has to be done this forum is an utter joke now
|

By:
rohit79 - thanks: as you say, use the report button to help us, in the meantime we are working on our end to tidy things up as well. As you say, it will take a bit of time

bloody horses - happy for you to message me with any ideas/suggestions. I'm sure they won't be far removed what I think but it will be good to hear them.

Yeah I may have to put some blog mentions on twitter :)
Betfair Community Manager - would love for you to return the forum to former glory days, alas feel the time may have gone - forum was at its peak in 2008/2009 but slowly everyone has gone. The action needed to be taken to return it to former glory would be detrimental to Betfairs growth plans and ability to attract new customers though I feel particularly in emerging markets... One option may be that you can only access a forum if you are from a particular country - so all users from English speaking countries on one forum and those from sub continent on another etc I obviously mean where customers are based and not their ethnic origin. |
|
By:
bravado - work is underway already to release localised versions of the forums. Won't happen overnight and it won't immediately be all countries, but it's on the map of plans. There are other things happening as well - drop me a message some time and will explain. I think forums and Twitter can work together, as Twitter (which I use) is limiting for conversations, both because group chat isn't easy and the 140-character limit. But I know we also need to do work here, and that is work we plan to do.

good to see Betfair having someone show an interest in the quality (or severe lack of) in the forum.
While it probably doesn't have any effect on the amount of money that goes on to the market it definitely reduces the whole community thing which Betfair used to like making part of the site. The Cricket forum used to be (from the sections i visited) the best and most friendly part of the forum with plenty of well informed discussion. There was always plenty of "44444" "gawwwnnnn" etc in live threads but in between all that there was good chat about games. Now anything more than 5 words is considered quite a lengthy post and people expect to be told who is going to win with everyone wanting to be a tipster that knows all. Without meaning to be racist, it's been clear that a lot of this has happened since the large influx of asian posters. It would be a shame to push people from other countries away from the forum but if people are more comfortable chatting in a different language then there's probably room for having sections to allow that. |
|
By:
Hi fairfranco - that is all very fair comment, and as I have said, we need to do a bit of work to get the cricket forum back to a place where everyone is happy. There are things being done or about to be done that will hopefully help in achieving that. In the meantime, I'd encourage anyone to use the 'report' button...

It appears that most of the posters from Asia are those who do not bet on BF, as they are provisional members subject to deposits which they cannot.
If BF checks that only members with deposit can post and others removed from the forum. Hopefuly that would resolve the problem to a great extent. |
|
By:
wise-punt - how very perceptive of you
! That is something we are looking at. |
|
By:
I agree with wp that only active bf members should be able to post. The forum seems to be awash with posters with opinions, who don't sound like they've ever actually placed a bet on an exchange in their lives.
Looking around the other forums too, they are a pale shadow of what they were. |
|
By:
1.01 - as I said, I wouldn't disagree with you or wp. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as flicking a switch. But that doesn't mean it can't be done.

I accept it's no easy task, BCM2. Good luck.

What happened to Betfair Community Manager 1?
Did he go insane trying to sort the football forum out? Poor chap. |
|
By:
Birchola - there's not actually a BCM1. There is a BCM, who is still around. And a BCM3 too. None of us are insane. Yet.

When you think about it, anyone calling themselves Betfair Community Manager 1 must have had little confidence in their chances of retaining the job.

I'd agree with a lot of the above - I'm sure that there used to be a condition that all postings had to be in English, and posters would have to have completed the KYC check, both of which would improve the situation, although non-English speakers may disagree with me.
Personally the forum was a fantastic resource for me when I first joined Betfair (7 years +)- it was full of very helpful contributors and was key in my loyalty to Betfair and developing successful trading. I don't think if I had joined today I would have the same experience. Admittedly I only do test matches which I think shields me from the 'worst' of the threads. Certainly the main comment is on Twitter these days and I think you will find it tough to get it back on here. I would contend that perhaps the forum has changed as attitudes to betfair and social media have changed. In the early days both online forums and betfair as a sports exchange were quite new, so forum numbers were quite limited and pioneering almost. Now everyone is used to having their say all the time on facebook/twitter etc and betfair has changed its targets as well to attract the more casual punter plus of course all the casino/arcades sections. Personally I'd like to see informed discussion on cricket and gambling, but that is just me and betfair's task is difficult in terms of who it wants to please as to how it approcahes it. However I am glad to see it is being given some thought even if I don't envy BCM2's job. |
|
By:
Agree with most of what is said here. Screaming you were right on Luckmans posts - Summarises part of the problem.
Have had a few chats with BCM2 and he has the right intent. Wish Betfair was engaging with the serious posters when the exodus started late last year and we started moaning about the quality falling. While I was not here in 2008 and 2009 it was still quite decent last year till about 6 months ago with plenty of healthly discussions. All said and done better late than never and hope we can get rid of the filth in he coming weeks. |
|

All bf needed to do was enforce their own forum rules. start handing out yellow cards (month bans) etc.. to all the spammers and trolls.
How asianrunslines is allowed to post thread after thread of borderline racist drivel is beyond me. Always gonna be twitter and other places for in play chat now but the forum could still be used for pre match discussions. me and rohit do a decent job on the IPL thread! ![]() |
|
By:
BF forum must be revived. Its a useful place where you get to know about cricket, sharpen trading skills and learn ways to become profitable. Senior punters who form part of Elite Trading Group (ETG) are requested to return to the form.
There are only a small number of undesireables who can be identified and reported for banning them. Its a simple matter which can be resolved rather quickly . Shall be sharing the solution with BCM2 |

Lix and others - where are you all posting? Just Twitter (I'm not on that)?
Great shame what's happened, and to Cricket of all sports! Ps, always rated Cook's one day abilities.... ![]() |

Havent stopped posting on here completely, just perhaps avoiding 20/20 match threads and some odis
Still happy to put points of view in(fwtw) and still like to contribute to test match threads This place has had a problem in last 6 months or so though which needs sorting out |
