For the record, I've emailed betfair for a second asking them to delete this thread.

No chance of this going anywhere til England regain the Ashes. You'll have to wait a month.

A month? Try another 50 years.

Anger T., could you share with us the reasons given by Betfair for refusing your requests to delete the thread, or was their response indecipherable through the operator's laughter?

The reason they gave:

Dear Sir,

Due to the upcoming Ashes test series between England and Australia we feel it's prudent we keep your thread active on the site. It's anticipated us poms will be battling to avoid an innings defeat more often than not. Therefore, the thread stays as much of the information will be as relevant and useful today as it was in the past. The forum is an area of the site made available by us in order to allow users to communicate with each other, to exchange ideas and discuss topical issues etc.

It is with regret that we have had to take this decision, but I am sure you understand why it has been necessary.

Kind regards

c'mon pommies!!!

email/call/fax betfair demanding they post an innings defeat market. let's make this series at least mildly interesting otherwise it's trading on the day england lose with day 3 always odds on.
By:

When: 19 Jul 05 11:55
Tell you what A-T, you are convinced it will finish on day 3 and suggested it should be odds on. I have put a ton up at 9's - YES NINES - on a day 3 finish (in fact, I will lob in days 1 and 2 free of charge!!!)

Go on take it, its free money mate - after all, it should be odds on

Over to you mate :p

The problem with betting on day of finish the rubbish pommie weather can always save the poms from the same of losing inside three days. The innings defeat market is a fair bet on the ability of your team. Let's get the market up, put your money where your mouth is, and see if you've really improved as a team.

A-t

The weather is set fair. I give you my word as a punter that if more than 30 overs is lost due to the weather I will refund you one-r. You cant be fairer than that

Remember, you said it would all be over by the afternoon / tea, so the 30 overs should be a good enough caveat against weather

Cmon mate - the pride of your country is at stake here!!!
By:
Anger_Therapy
When: 19 Jul 05 13:09
Oh yeah, I'm trusting the word of a punter on here. :)

Fact is forecasting the british weather is like trying to pick six winning lottery numbers. If there are 8 sessions of play by Saturday evening then Aussies are guaranteed to have won the Lords test inside three days.

I want the ability to lay prices on an innings defeat for the poms..... be it inside three or four days.

When: 19 Jul 05 13:11
ok your call - backtrack away :p
By:
Anger_Therapy
When: 19 Jul 05 13:14
I'm not backtracking! We both know only the weather can save the poms.... and I suspect you've seen a forecast for some heavy rain. :)
By:
Innocent Bystander
When: 19 Jul 05 13:16
a_t

there is no rain at all forecast for the first 3 days in any forecast I have seen - and there are many on here to back me up

You have been spouting that it will all be over by tea on day 3, yet when given the opportunity to put up or shut up you chicken out

I thought Aussies like a punt, I am obviously mistaken

All talk and no action, mate - continue your verbal bull on here cos you obviously havent got the sheckels to back it up!!!

Excellent forecast. Perhaps our regular readers would like to partake in the following quiz:

Re-arrange the following words to form a well known phrase or saying; "trousers all mouth and no".

Now as I am a fair dinkum pom, I have put the price up to TENS, cmon its free money - what have you to worry about

Weather? Oh dear poor excuse check all these forecasts

The 30 over offer still stands - I have posted on here too long to welch on a bet, us poms dont do that!!!

Perfect bowling conditions. Would take the bet myself but don't want to let A T off the hook.
By:

When: 19 Jul 05 13:26
Is this offer open to anyone, or just a-t? ;-)
By:
Innocent Bystander
When: 19 Jul 05 13:30
Cmon a-t, take the price before others do!!!

Its not so much of a bet , more free money for you!!! Its my alturistic side showing again!
By:
Mushtaq
When: 19 Jul 05 13:33
Well. I've now backed England to win in 3 days ;-)
By:
Innocent Bystander
When: 19 Jul 05 13:35
Damn Mushy, I forgot about that option

So not only are you getting the foregone conclusion that Aussie will win by tea on day 3, you get the added bonus of England winning inside 3 days as well

If I had known that I wouldnt have gone higher than 8's - after all IT IS FREE MONEY!!!
By:
Mushtaq
When: 19 Jul 05 13:37
I'm assuming that the thought that he might be indirectly backing England is putting him off. Perhaps you should put in another offer on top of the 30 over thing, to ensure that an England win = stakes returned, bet void? ;-)

Cmon a_t, you've gone as quiet as a baby-fed dingo!!!

You know I think Aussie will win this series, but it wont be a surrender job like you're predicting!
By:
Anger_Therapy
When: 19 Jul 05 20:41
We'll see.

I stand by my prediction. I see another guy is asking for an innings defeat market too.... so let's get this up and let the betting begin.

As for the thought of the poms winning inside three days, hahahahahahahahahahahaah....... that's the funniest thing I've read on here in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages. ;)
By:
Innocent Bystander
When: 19 Jul 05 20:47
but still you were too chicken to put your money up!!!

All mouth and no cahoonas, I think its called :p

Judging by the weather forecasts getting thrown around, the poms might be spared a defeat in three days. But believe me, it's only the weather that will save the poms total humilation and the administators two days of lost revenues.
