Can Tony Martin challenge him? Think his time in jail hampered his career a bit.

Cancellara... nasty fall in the road race but should challenge...

Froome... outside chance... his missus will be keen to see him win. War of the WAGS

Froome can't beat Wiggo. Spartacus and especially Martin could, if fit.

4/9 seems far too skinny for someone who peaked for TDF.

I can't remember but I don't think he was as short as 4/9 for either of the TT stages in TdF. Still, he's the man to beat.

SJ as short as 1.25

for the 1st ITT in the Tour Cancellara was favourite.

more realistic price than Cavendish the other day - less variable elements outside his control.

Have backed Phinney for my sins. Maybe a bit of localised rain will stir things up a bit

Some huge prices - Pinotti, Rogers, Chavanel and Grabsch

Wiggins really ought to be on the slide now although he seems confident

Going to be windy, although from what I remember of that part of the world it's quite sheltered

Women's race is on now. Might give an indication of any problems or localised weather.

There seems nowhere to find times on the web - even the Olympic site and the BBC pictures are so amateurish compared to the tour and Eurosport.

decent crowds... no rain where i am in london

The only thing the bbc controls are the comms. None of the pictures are bbc, unfortunately.
I would imagine the splits are deliberately limited. This is the Olympic time trial one off, not a tour stage.

Inept coverage by the BBC - prefer showing slow motions and riders coming into the slow down area than live action.

Armstrong defending her crown after that nasty fall , it is a great omen for Cancellara to do exactly the same .

Tony Martin Top 3 for me at 1.55. Finished the road race 50 miles earlier and at the odds prefer that than a Wiggo straight win. Good luck, lets hope Wiggo does the business Cool

Got Wiggins at around 1.9.
Would usually think about laying stake off with good move before the off. Not this time.

Strongly believe in Wiggo for this.

How come Cavendish doesn't go for this?

Not sure if trolling....

but...

It would be a bit like Bolt entering the 10,000m.
By:
Biscuit1979
When: 01 Aug 12 14:24
because he is a sprinter, not a time triallist. It's a bit like saying Usian Bolt is quick, why can't he run the 5000m
By:

When: 01 Aug 12 14:28
Whats the olympic record for this?
By:
inner city sumo
When: 01 Aug 12 14:29
That's not a fair comparison though, because the general public will see Cavendish sprinting at the end of very long races....

The reason Cavendish doesn't enter this race is because his ability to execute a sprint finish is totally dependent upon him being shielded and protected by his team throughout the race, and then, that team aggressively pace setting for him in the closing stages. That isn't available in the individual time trial, therefore it would be pointless him entering.

thank you inner city

wasn't getting the Bolt stuff when his tour wins are over longer distances than this
By:

When: 01 Aug 12 14:36
TBF BOLT COULD PROBABLY WIN THE 5KM
By:
horses2010

does 100m in less than 10 seconds so would imagine he would complete 5000, in around 8 minutes :)
