Can Tony Martin challenge him? Think his time in jail hampered his career a bit.

Cancellara... nasty fall in the road race but should challenge...

Froome... outside chance... his missus will be keen to see him win. War of the WAGS

Froome can't beat Wiggo. Spartacus and especially Martin could, if fit.
Report bix August 1, 2012 9:38 AM BST
4/9 seems far too skinny for someone who peaked for TDF.

both are not fit

I can't remember but I don't think he was as short as 4/9 for either of the TT stages in TdF. Still, he's the man to beat.
Report NonShy.. August 1, 2012 10:27 AM BST
SJ as short as 1.25
Report donny osmond August 1, 2012 10:52 AM BST
a shower after the early riders finish could be a skinner for the books, whats the forecast ???

otherwise it looks game over
Report bb66 August 1, 2012 10:55 AM BST
for the 1st ITT in the Tour Cancellara was favourite.
Report ReaseHeath August 1, 2012 11:33 AM BST
more realistic price than Cavendish the other day - less variable elements outside his control.
Report lucky losers August 1, 2012 11:34 AM BST
Thanks for the tip lads. In response here is a gd arb for ye. Individual Time Trial - Forecast Wiggins / Froome Skybet offering 8, its here to lay for around 50euro 6.8 and below
Report Dope August 1, 2012 12:26 PM BST
Taylor Phinney to medal.
Report Flying_V August 1, 2012 12:45 PM BST
Have backed Phinney for my sins. Maybe a bit of localised rain will stir things up a bit
Report GoBallistic August 1, 2012 12:53 PM BST
Some huge prices - Pinotti, Rogers, Chavanel and Grabsch

Wiggins really ought to be on the slide now although he seems confident

Going to be windy, although from what I remember of that part of the world it's quite sheltered
Report Darlo Bantam August 1, 2012 12:54 PM BST
Women's race is on now. Might give an indication of any problems or localised weather.
Report bilbobaggins August 1, 2012 12:59 PM BST
There seems nowhere to find times on the web - even the Olympic site and the BBC pictures are so amateurish compared to the tour and Eurosport.
Report NonShy.. August 1, 2012 1:04 PM BST
decent crowds... no rain where i am in london
Report Ghostdog August 1, 2012 1:07 PM BST
The only thing the bbc controls are the comms. None of the pictures are bbc, unfortunately.
I would imagine the splits are deliberately limited. This is the Olympic time trial one off, not a tour stage.

Inept coverage by the BBC - prefer showing slow motions and riders coming into the slow down area than live action.
Report judorick August 1, 2012 1:44 PM BST
bbc are not controlling the pictures bilbo

Except the pics are not controlled by the bbc.

As posted above.

Armstrong defending her crown after that nasty fall , it is a great omen for Cancellara to do exactly the same .
Report themover August 1, 2012 2:06 PM BST
Tony Martin Top 3 for me at 1.55. Finished the road race 50 miles earlier and at the odds prefer that than a Wiggo straight win. Good luck, lets hope Wiggo does the business Cool
Report Ghostdog August 1, 2012 2:12 PM BST
Got Wiggins at around 1.9.
Would usually think about laying stake off with good move before the off. Not this time.

Strongly believe in Wiggo for this.

Can I ask a stupid question

How come Cavendish doesn't go for this?
Report undern August 1, 2012 2:21 PM BST
yep that is a stupid question
Report Ghostdog August 1, 2012 2:22 PM BST
Not sure if trolling....

but...

It would be a bit like Bolt entering the 10,000m.
Report Biscuit1979 August 1, 2012 2:24 PM BST
because he is a sprinter, not a time triallist. It's a bit like saying Usian Bolt is quick, why can't he run the 5000m
Report horses2010 August 1, 2012 2:28 PM BST
Whats the olympic record for this?
Report inner city sumo August 1, 2012 2:29 PM BST
That's not a fair comparison though, because the general public will see Cavendish sprinting at the end of very long races....

The reason Cavendish doesn't enter this race is because his ability to execute a sprint finish is totally dependent upon him being shielded and protected by his team throughout the race, and then, that team aggressively pace setting for him in the closing stages. That isn't available in the individual time trial, therefore it would be pointless him entering.
Report johnwark August 1, 2012 2:30 PM BST
thank you inner city

wasn't getting the Bolt stuff when his tour wins are over longer distances than this
Report NonShy.. August 1, 2012 2:36 PM BST
TBF BOLT COULD PROBABLY WIN THE 5KM
Report horses2010 August 1, 2012 2:40 PM BST
does 100m in less than 10 seconds so would imagine he would complete 5000, in around 8 minutes :)
Report NonShy.. August 1, 2012 2:58 PM BST
I WAS THINKING 9 MINS... HE'D WALK THE LAST THE 50m
Report horses2010 August 1, 2012 3:09 PM BST
Yeh I suppose he has to save some energy for the 10k
Report carlos monzon August 1, 2012 3:13 PM BST
When will this finish???

Thanks
Report horses2010 August 1, 2012 3:20 PM BST
they will complete it in about 50mins ish. Does anyone know all the checkpoints?
Report bb66 August 1, 2012 3:22 PM BST
finish approx at the full hour
Report inner city sumo August 1, 2012 3:22 PM BST
Should be finished around 4pm.
Report elisjohn August 1, 2012 3:27 PM BST
so if cavendish is just an all out sprinter, whats the point of having him in the teamConfused,  and what is a sprinter in cycling terms, 100, 200m a mile out? ps people were saying that the dutch girl who won the gold on sunday was a sprinter but she took up the running miles out .
Report elisjohn August 1, 2012 3:29 PM BST
reckon this is a better test of a top cyclist though, everyone all out no messing .
Report Rhino-2k8 August 1, 2012 3:31 PM BST
Wiggins crusing it
Report inner city sumo August 1, 2012 3:33 PM BST
The point of having a sprinter is stage wins which confer financial prizes in the major tours and races. Stage wins also satisfy sponsors as their name is seen everywhere.

4/9 was a gift Shocked
Report marychain1 August 1, 2012 3:39 PM BST
4/9 a good bet if you knew the fitness of Martin and Cancellara. I got 1.67 for Wiggins to win and topped up at 1.8 when Martin was faster through the first checkpoint but my main bet in this is a 90% fit Martin w/o Wiggo at 2.7.
Report themover August 1, 2012 3:42 PM BST
yes goooooooooo Wiggo
Report marychain1 August 1, 2012 3:45 PM BST

hardly a fitness worry ffs

Wiggins is just quicker

well you arent 100% fit if you've got a broken bone in your hand are you ffs?

he did it a month ago.
