When most of us were growing up we were taught to be proud of our country, so that meant following the national sports teams and supporting Britain in the Olympics. It also meant that if the IRA or muslim terrorist bombed any city in the UK we felt sad often anger but also a sense that we had all been attacked.
My youngest son who is 23 and most of his generation but certainly not all a largely indifferent to what happens to other parts of Britain, they have some interest in what has happened but no more connection than if it happened elsewhere in the world. If it doesn’t affect them personally then its just another day in a crazy world. Been taught to be proud of your country was glue that kept the country together and that is what used to make us strong. |

I believe it's inevitable erosion of one's identity eg British(ness) will happen if there is unchecked immigration or immigration dominated by an ethnic group non-conducive to its value, religion, custom and tradition even rule of law.

what is Britishness though ? a lot of what we have has come from overseas ... United Kingdom is how we address our country ,Britain (and the commonwealth) sounds very much from a bygone era of steam trains and hop picking .
Geographically we are still Brits |

I think anyone taking persona offence because of someone else's achievements or from the mere fact of having been born in a particular place because of it's history needs to assess their own life frankly.

I can remember reading something about how big wrestling was back then they never played the same arena twice in one season such was popularity of the sport it all came crashing down when a total middle class janker took it off the telly. A bad omen for things to come
