From A brief for whitey, by Pat Buchanan…
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks. We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude? Did you know? About half a million Negro slaves were brought to America, over two million were taken to Brazil. Today tens of millions of descendants of these slaves live in total squalor no different from the worst slums in Africa. They only dream of the plush lifestyle of American blacks. ![]() |

For some reason that's not the point.
|
|
By:
That's a perspective I've never heard

By:
We did not have to catch slaves as the slaves were rounded up BLACK African kings/tribal chiefs who sold them to us.
|
|
By:
Any chance of getting the money back to pay for the recent damages?

|
By:
Sorry. I thought it was rhetorical

How did the English catch the slaves? Use big nets?
Ever thought they used brute force and cash? |

Are there any better countries for blacks aside from US and UK I can't think of any

You added two unnecessary words: "of any".

China? Saudi Arabia? Scotland? |

I'll happily stand corrected...

My pleasure. You are wrong.

And Wakanda doesn't count

I presume you believe slavery is the greatest level of freedom?

Clearly not

You lost me I must have misunderstood what your message was. Apologies if I did. |

By:
I presume you believe slavery is the greatest level of freedom?
Maybe we should ask the thousands of slaves currently existing in Saudi, Kuwait and most Middle Eastern countries... Although nobody appears concerned with them. |
|
By:
If the media have their way all whites will be slaves to history forevermore.

Perhaps my use of the word sick was interpreted as the modern day usage of it (for some unknown reason). I meant it as bad, very bad, in no way good. |

1 in a 200 of the world's population is currently in slavery.
If the anti-slave brigade what something to complain about that would be the place to start. |
|
By:
In answer to the OP European merchants purchased slaves from Africans. Many were POWs and people kidnapped from other tribes and taken to the coast for sale. It follows the tradition of selling them to the middle east through the Sahara route before the Europeans got involved. The middle east took slaves from Europe and Asia also.

Most reasonable people quite rightly condemn the Pakistani (and other) grooming gangs. You cannot argue rationally any sort of defense for them. Most rational people also, quite rightly, condemn any sex-trafficking gangs of any nationality. The perpetrators are the scum of the earth and god knows how much damage they have done to their victims and the victims' families.
Some people, above, and on other threads appear to be saying it was ok for Britain to do much the same if not worse because it was a while ago. Twisted people. |
|
By:
Given the chance most Africans would swap lives with the black British or American.
|
|
By:
Been to 4 countries in Africa. My experience was the same in each place. Absolute poverty and a strong desire to leave. The thousands upon thousands who have drowned in the Med would suggest the risks of leaving Africa are worth it.

Probably hundreds of thousands if not millions or billions.

But none of the protesters have ever given a thought to the grooming gangs. Something they can get involved with now, not an historical situation which they cannot change. Something tangible which they choose to ignore. Why?? I reckon they're hypocrites. It's easy for them to virtue signal when the same things are going on 200 miles away and they turn a blind eye. Probably because whitey is the victim and it doesn't suit their prejudices. |

I understood you perfectly. Slavery is abhorrent, clearly. However that isn't to deny that it did (generally speaking) facilitate a significant improvement in living conditions for those of African heritage. That isn't in any way a justification, merely an observation. |
|
By:
It is about historical context.
No it's not. It's about what is right and what is wrong. 100 years for now if woman dominate society and men are being discriminated against people might look back at people today and say 'why was nothing done to protect men during Covid19 as clearly they were more likely to die?'. Don't try and predict the future you can't even get the present day correct. People are not worried about this issue right now though. It is barely mentioned. There is no white paper on it or special advise. This issue? Racism. Get real. |
