Lets hope so,think plenty will be happy to visit as soon as they open,i guess it depends on the restrictions in place whether its worthwhile opening.

I don't see why pubs should be far behind. Might be a 12noon to 9pm to begin with and an hour Closed at some point, or something like that. They need to open, and the government and licencees need to sort a plan pdq |

Until they stop all this social distancing **** pubs will be rubbish even if they do manage to reopen. At present I cant see any bothering even if they get the go ahead for the 4th July. Just not feasible for most.

read article today about how pubs could look, about distancing, table service, booking times to go to the pub, having a maitre'd etc , i was nearly in tears

You might even get more in a bookies over a day, touching same things Whereas you can go into a pub and more or less distance, if limits are placed. My local could open without problem so long as quiz poker and bingo were scrapped. |

Social distancing will be fine, just operate at 25% capacity to begin with and table service only and limited hours cos the drunks will ruin it for everyone.

 as i said i go in pubs with no gardens. Bookies don't get social gatherings, & that will not change, those days were well gone before this disruption. Pubs are a completely diff matter, even if ye have to shout at each other a bit more |

dont mind paying more at all, ( within reason ) if it helps get more money into system , keeps people in jobs etc, all for it.
could limit people at bar etc but daresay without stating obvious, not all pubs are same. whats good for a sma boozer in rural northumberland, isn't necessarily applicable to a pub in newcastle city centre, or a flash gastropub in southernenglandsville. |

Some pubs do not. I know it's not scientific, Pub owners need a plan and to get it out there. I'd like to see a local order where they could use car park space as a beer garden Or green spaces in front of pub. |

thats what i hope, give pubs a framework to work in and abide by whatever regulations. up to individual pub to be creative and maximise custom etc.

Pubs have been going under for a long time now, and plenty were no doubt struggling before the virus.
Many, especially countryside pubs, have already had to diversify into offering accommodation and/orexpanding into pub restaurants often making more with their food offerings and now that side of the business is out of action too. If they were struggling to make ends meet before and are going to come back having to spend money on safety and SD measures with limited capacity/opening hours it doesn't bode well for them. It is hard to judge whether the public will be itching to get back to normal and flock to them (which may cause problems) and then drift away or whether many people will be reluctant to return. People who have had more time to spend cooking, learning to cook new things and cooking from scratch at home may be less inclined to spend money on eating out. |

Lots of bars are now owned by pub chains; even some in out of town places & countryside areas ... Will the owners spend dosh on making them safe for future customers .. whilst i'm sure they would like to sell some the demand won't be here so they are going to need to absorb short term losses in the hope of long term returns
Wonder how Wetherspoons will get on ... some do have beer gardens but others within an urban evironment will certainly struggle to cope ... they usually get the regular trade with the deadheads who frequent them but they aren't likely to adhere to social distancing on a voluntary basis |

lets be honest here.if pubs cant eventually go back to normal then we might as well pack up and give up on life in general.we just cant live in fear.whats next?

missing the pubs on a saturday night big time ...the only time when i like any social interaction ...the rest of the time i'd be more than happy on a desert island

I think over the coming months public opinion is going to change sharply once they realise all the things they enjoy are going to be ruined just to protect a small section of society. This has all been a bit of a novelty to a lot at present getting their wages paid and just sitting at home but when a lot lose their jobs and we still arent allowed to do the things we have always enjoyed the Government is going to have no choice but to back down.
Its total madness what we have done to this country but its not too late to change course. First step reduce this stupid 2m rule that had no scientific logic and is in excess of most other countries. That at least gives pubs a chance. |
