Rishi for next Labour chancellor when Boris bombed out and Starmer is PM! what a Tory you are |
By:
The problem with Starmer is that he joined the wrong party. He may have made a fine Conservative PM, but he decided to go for what may be an eternity in opposition
By:
Starmer getting some good polling stats today
The climb back is starting with a small step |
By:
Starmer will be next PM but it wont really matter a jot by then will it. He will be known for implementing the greatest austerity ever seen in this country.
By:
Why would he implement austerity?
Sunak is proving it was the wrong policy and a tory choice |
By:
Sunak is acting in the middle of a crisis without worrying what happens in the medium term. Surely you can see how badly this ends?
By:
even though the tory money tree didn't excist and has been found, THE SAJ, says there should be no tax rises to pay for the pickings of the tree, even saying taxes should still be cut, imagine that labour voters getting Corbyn on steroids and paying less tax for the pleasure

It's a crisis if he doesn't pump in cash
Same as 10 years of tory austerity |
By:
Pumping cash does pay for itself if the money gets spent
By:
Well lets wait and see yhtl.
By:
Taking money out is the biggest worry.
USA have tap on full so we would be stupid not to turn on ours |
By:
You can't wait and see because you won't see the carnage of not having this furlough.
Sunak had to make a choice, I reckon he got it right. History isn't his judge but today is. |
By:
yhtl. Im not disagreeing with what you say. Its what happens next year thats the issue when we have a wrecked economy and a much greater national debt.
I just think theres a naivety amongst a lot about the position we will be in in 2021 onwards and I fear huge health and social consequences as well as massive increases in poverty. It certainly isnt just a money versus lives debate that many on here believe. |
By:
tory,s doubled the national debt in 9 years and no one give a fooooking foook 4 months ago, waving union jacks on Brexit day, bring on the world,so don't tell us torys/right wing are worried about the debt
By:
Thank you for another interesting contribution.

I understand that dotch
But my point is next year would be so much worse without furlough so him copping flack would be unfair. Don't forget we may have a no deal brexit to absorb too We need as much of our infrastructure to survive as possible |

Workers going back part time where possible, they therefore won't be getting anywhere near their normal hours and will get their money topped up to the 80% that theyb are getting now, very few will find themselves in a position where they will work in excess of the 80% so will therefore be working at a loss.
This plan should have been happening from the very start, instead of a few working for their full money and a bunch at home with their feet up (me included), everyone should have been at work part time and everyone get their money supplemented, that would have been fair all round. The other problem that this will have caused, and it will be seen when/if workplaces get back to normal is that their will be an atmosphere of bad feeling between the "workers" and the "furloughers" going forward. |
By:
A time for managers to manage then.
By:
Getting folk confident to get back to work is possibly the biggest worry at the mo.
Getting figures down this month can see confidence return, and a stepped return with no great increases in r will help further. |
By:
tory,s double the debt in 9 years and were that worried about it, they promised 4 months ago
40 new hospitals 50,000 new nurses 25,000 new policeman record rises in minimum wage levelling up the regions hs2 broadband for every household that's how worried about debt the tory,s/rightwing are ![]() ![]() |

We were in such a state we had to close and mothball to prevent folk being forced to take risks to stay out of serious debt. It's a really necessary step, imo |

We are going to see the real thinking very soon, I think the realiseation is already there, but when the "R" rate goes above 1, whether they shut down or push on will reveal whether or not the only way is to just go for it or not.
Although not as blatant as the states, we are adopting in a more subtle way a similar approach to Trump, we are opening up, it's much easier to keep going in the face of the figures going the wrong way if you're already in the midst of attempting to get back to normality. Once we have a lot of places back open again there will be a mood encouraged to push on and keep going rather than to allow ourselves to slip back down the snake to square 1, especially as there will be no guarantees that we'll ever succeed with the softly softly approach. Social distancing is a business killer, you either open up and go for herd immunity or shut down completely and hope a vaccine is the answer, we have seen both examples used elsewhere, the one approach that doesn't work and causes maximum disruption is the one we are using. |
By:
They tried herd immunity and killed 50,000 folk
We need to get back to test track and trace which has been shown to work elsewhere in the world |
By:
Exactly herd immunity has been a catastrophic failiure David kig and john Ashton saying today once again we are doing the wrong thing, all for the sake of maybe one month..

By:

By:
some of that going on LAUGH, claiming furlough and trying to get people back in,double bubble so to speak
By:
So it remains at 80%!
I’ll take that till October if I have to but it really is madness. |
By:
the right wing tory loons trying to point the finger at workers but its the people who the tory,s spend all their lives telling us ,etc are the risk takers etc, who are claiming the furlough not individuals, its not compulsory to claim the money
By:
And you can still pay dividends whilst claiming
Or ship profits into tax havens... |
By:
Dudes
If you can keep your heads while others around you are losing theirs I don’t think you quite understand the seriousness of the situation. This is bad, really bad. |
