"We are testing, literally, hundreds of thousands of people a day"....

Oh yeah, so that means at least 200,000 of people a day!!!

Nobody has a clue what's going on

And did we think we would have a clue with this lot running the show? being led by a bloke who was hiding in a fridge a few months back, and the country "voted" for him Crazy

I got the impression that a lot of people were looking forward to the speech, hoping for a lot more encouragement. They got next to nothing.

Think we'd have learnt more if he'd used his time to tell his favourite 10 Beatles songs. We'd get more leadership by electing a blancmange.

Basically if you want to go to work you can

That's the message, you have the choice to bring the economy down by staying home Silly

this sums it up, too much ambiguity in the little modifications he announced.

di not come across a leader, very casual when so many hanging off of his every last word.

especially those poor grandparents who haven't seen their grandkids for weeks and slowly dying of loneliness

The country is screwed. The new saying should be stay at home, dont bother working, say goodbye to the NHS and your pensions.

Still cannot believe he used the Ferguson 500k number as a marker.

I think we could have protests within a month.

A lot of bluster for not a lot.
Why that wasn't just another 5 pm boreathon I have no idea......other than it means you don't have to face the media......
They really seem to have no idea how to go forward.

Airlines , holidays , sport , public transport travel , weddings , funerals , christenings , doctors appointments , family and friend socialising , pus , restaurants ......all appear consigned to the bin.

What an odd statement.

So in England people go to work and pay tax, risk getting infection, so people in Scotland and Wales and NI can still get furlough from the British govt?????

same reason there was in America

they will be astroturfed and then people with legitimate gripes about not being taken care of will jump on board too

All the fuss about nothing - more fudge than clarity. Some on furlough might have to decide whether to go back to work or risk being sack if not even if getting there poses a probable health issue eg a long commute involving several changes on public transport. Money or your life?

done on purpose*

^

I think not.

The ICU personal experience means he has lost all objectivity on this I think.

He is now been lead but some quantifiable pseudoscience measures that are basically meaningless.

His lack of confidence and inability to have a grown up conversation about the risks is going to do untold damage to the UK.

They reckon this flu started in October so there must have been people infected in November/December in the UK
The country functioned normally until lockdown, very strange!
