Mrs 'Death surpassed herself in kindness and stupidity last week. She bought me a case of 18 bottles of San Miguel, which, was very nice of her but I don't really drink lager! Nonetheless I put some in the fridge and took them in a cool bag when I met up with my mates and I have to say they were pleasant enough. I wouldn't buy San Miguel again but I am and certainly would drink it if that was the only option. I am trying to stay off the beer in lock down so San Miguel is my current only option!

Hopefully there are some Kentish Men or Men of Kent, whichever it is, on here. Had a long weekend in Broadstairs last year and there was a Kent Brewery whose beers we tried were simply named Number 3 or Number 5 etc. Just remembered them reading this thread but cannot find the brewery on the net. Anyone know?.
Re Town/Brewery visits/tours - I can thoroughly recommend Lewes/Harveys up Sussex. Lovely town, bit Bohemian Raffia and Sandals for some but a really nice place with great pubs, shops, museums, a castle and even Sussex's best river running through it. The Bonfire Night celebrations are unparalleled anywhere. The beers, and the Brewery tour, are some of the best anywhere. Direct Trains from London too, which also stop at Plumpton!. |

we got the hops but we certainly ain't got the best water and that is what makes the difference I think except for Yorkshire Tea, which, is for peasants!

A lot of brewers where the water source is poor use a process called burtonisation where they add minerals to acquire thev right ph for brewing

Duke of Puke - Defo not a Shepherd Neame, and definitely not a Lidl/Aldi or the names you mentioned. The pubs where we had it, Broadstairs and Margate (yes really!) told us that the Brewers were really fussy and would not allow their beer to be transported out of Kent. The bar tabs simply had the name of the brewery and a simple "Number Five"

Some references to Gadd's No. 3 and No. 5.
On the subject of Kent a couple of years ago on holiday we went to the first micro pub - probably only get half a dozen people in the place! http://www.micropub.co.uk |

Used to go out with a woman who cooked everything in apple juice.
She always liked something in cider. |
