Pretty much everyone is his descendant though. Jut some inherited more than others.

Harold and Willy were both of viking descent and neither had any proper claim to the crown.
Strange how that is a pretty much everybody's intro to UK history
Harold would have won easily too if he hadn't had to travel the length of the country to beat Hardrada
The troops were absolutely shattered by the time they got back to Hastings

Techically, the Queen owns all the land in the UK.

Btw, prior to William I, I think English monarchs were elected.

You may own the house but you never own the land. That belongs to the Queen. If they want to put HS2 through your land/property you can't do a thing about it. Also, if you owned the land why would you need planning permission to build on it?

Her maj owns everything except the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster. Also she "owns" all of the lands in countries within the commonwealth. I think it's about 6.6 billion acres of habital land.

Find a goldmine in your back garden... it's Lizzies.

the queen is just a puppet of government, so technically we own her.

a party could be formed, elected and enact a law to allow folk to own equal shares of land

the queen could not stop it.
