Look, the way to defend Boris is to find someone who has done an even more rotten job than he has (if you can).

but it is all the tory lot's fault
they must be in charge in spain and italy as well |
|
By:
Why did he ignore the Italian doctors and go down the "herd immunity" path Moisok?
|
|
By:
Do you accept he was prepared to give this virus to most of the population in order to achieve that goal?

No, what I'm doing is pointing out to the Armchair Experts, sitting with 20/20 hindsight and a glass 99% full of prejudice, the following.
Within this very island, listening to same media and observing all the same events in the world, we have a second devolved government that controls a pretty much totally independent health system and separate legal system (apart from some areas). Which apparently had no better preparation for this than that controlled by the Tories. No stockpiles of PPE etc. No spare ventilators. This same government has acted pretty much at the same time as the UK government with regards to lockdown measure. Keep in mind: This is a government that loves nothing better than to do things differently to the Tories and try and portray itself as better than them, both out of principle. So what I'm trying to do, is to coax people who like to think objectively, as they sit casting stones and throwing judgment around like sanitary spray, WHY did this same government not prepare better when it was it's job to do so, if it's so OBVIOUS in hindsight? WHY didn't it lock down earlier, as it's so obvious apparently Boris should have? WHY is it struggling to source ventilators from anywhere in the world, or source tests, or source PPE, when apparently it must be easy and it's not being done merely because the Tories are incompetent or don't care? Do the Scottish government not care about Scottish people? I mean to the Armchair Experts, it was alllll so obvious now and it's allll so easy to do, apparently, in Armchair Expertland? That's my point. If you can't understand it then .. |

no you cannot say that it does not fit the narrative or the guardian/bbc agenda which they follow so slavishly

Boris is serving his country whilst the leftist jokers on here just complain and complain.
Everyone has a personal choice. If you thought we should self-isolate earlier having examined Italy then you should have done so. Me and my wife did so 9 days before the official letters were arriving. Did anyone of the anti-Boris lot on here make their own decisions based on their person view of the facts or were they waiting for the government to tell them what to do? Take some personal responsibility and stop blaming big government. |

It's win win for the I told ya so mob. They can't actually affect owt, but the more deaths there are the more they can crow how right they were. It'll feel like winning the pools if it's really bad.

Weren't you the fella that was saying the British goverment should be commandeering planes to bring back the late holiday makers that took a chance and didn't have as much "personal responsibility" as your good self?

laspy,
When did you go into isolation? We made the decision on Monday 16th March having examined the data. The irony if we do not get it from post/deliveries etc we will actually be a worse situation going forward but I cannot take the risk due to wife with heart failure. |
|
By:
I won't call it isolation as such, i didn't go to a supermarket/shop though since late feb, there was a wang.

Deaths per million people
Italy 243 Spain 234 France 100 Belgium 99 Holland 87 Uk 53 USA 21 Germany 15 Germany are around 5 days behind the uk but not on a disimilar path. The virus is still in its early stages. Its going to be brutal but looking at western europe as a whole the UK is not doing that badly in comparison to others. This is a lethal invisible disease that is going to leave a trail of devastation across the globe. There is little humans can do to stop it. We can test all you like, even ventilators only give you a small chance of survival. Follow the advice, stay at home, wash your hands and hope for the best. |
|
By:
So you self isolated from late-Feb?
Good personal choice. But imagine telling a whole country to do that and then finding out it is just something similar to MERS or SARS1? Make no mistake we will be paying for this shutdown for years if not decades in increased deaths due to people no accessing doctors and dentists and no tax revenues from business. It is fine for people to personally make the call to isolate but for a leader of 66 million people not so easy. Give Boris, Macron, Conte, Trump and the Spanish socialist guy some slack. |

Fair post drive for show, i never said it was unstoppable.
As i said it wasn't isolation per se,it was more of an awareness to avoid crowds, i didn't examine any data,Peckerdunne put a thread up(removed since, virus out of control) on chit chat,i was v sceptical at 1st but he won't he a conspiracy nut or dramatic fella, it started coming true and he was so far ahead. |
