a 47 year old ambulance worker in italy with no health conditions died -

https://metro.co.uk/2020/03/15/paramedic-47-second-youngest-coronavirus-victim-italy-12402228/

His colleagues said he was medically fine before his death and added his job required his health to be ‘constantly monitored’. Colleague Davide Brescancin claimed rescuers were being exposed to the virus all the time and pleaded with authorities to protect them with stricter procedures, according to local reports.

Health union Adl Cobas Lombardia spokesman Riccardo Germani said: ‘Diego was a trained worker, a rescuer who has always used personal protective equipment, was not elderly and did not have any other diseases. ‘He was one of the 700 health workers, doctors, nurses and rescuers who have already been infected.’

The Chinese doctor who first bought attention to the disease died in his 20s or 30s I believe.  A combination or one of, high level exposure to the disease, and exhaustion would be a guess.

it appears a second wave may be hitting some of the countries which had been successful at controlling the disease, there are no easy answers.

Italy now nearly 3000 deaths..at this rate they could overtake china.

Like Italy China has an older population. But by looking at the numbers it appears to have a better survival rate...Why is this??? Stricter isolation procedures, better drugs, more ventilators

More than 99% of Italy’s coronavirus fatalities were people who suffered from previous medical conditions, according to a study by the country’s national health authority.
The average age of those who’ve died from the virus in Italy is 79.5.

Italy’s life expectancy is 83.

The variation in the mortality rates doesn't make much sense.

I can understand the Chinese might have stronger immunity due to the historic occurrence of similar viruses there.

But the disparity between Germany and Italy/Spain is very odd. I was looking into it a week ago and the explanation was that Germany was a couple of weeks behind and that Italy had an older population, but if anything there is more of a variation now, and those things don't explain it for me.

thorough testing, better protection for the elderly, meaning the proportion of elderly people infected is lower, better and less stretched health services, less smoking (smokers seem particularly vulnerable)

could also be air quality and weather related

Italians are very family oriented and often even live with their grandparents = high death/test ration.
Germans have been testing like mad which means the very mild cases nobody else would even notice are on the radar = high test/death ratio.

Also it's been established the Bratwurst makes you immune to it, but only if taken as a suppository.
I expect all forumites to keep themself safe now I've informed you. Assuming you can get your hands on any.
(Probably nigh impossible in the Brighton area once this fact becomes common knowledge).

I have no idea. Berlin has a high % of crusty vegetarians and they've had go into total pub and club lockdown, so initial studies indicate it has to have bits of dodgy dead animal in it to be effective. That makes sound medical sense, according to some random on twitter Wink.

There has to be a first time in history that an authoritarian communist dictatorship lied about something or covered something up, but I too would be sad if it has finally happened.

Gotta admit someone stated China has the cure,  unleashed the virus on its own country which spread to the world..now they apparently don't have new cases..because they have the vaccine while we all suffer..that's why trump keeps calling it the Chinese virus..
Could hold some truth
