there is no point in testing ,just a waste of tax payers money

Though the test itself is just a decades old procedure.

Yes but the testers don’t simply rock up with a toothbrush. It’s highly resource intensive with nothing to gain.

Rational experts are saying this will be with us for the foreseeable future. So pretty much everyone will be infected at some point, albeit some asystematic.

Corona viruses are not new. We have them most years.

South Korea, and most, if not all, of Asia is doing the testing, the US are rolling it out, and Germany and most of Europe are almost certainly are doing it too.  It's highly important.  Without it we've no idea how many people have the virus.  We can't extrapolate it from the deaths, because we don't know how much the policy of protecting vulnerables is working.  We've lost the tool to get a good estimate of the spread of the virus.  On an individual level, anyone who has the symptoms and recovers, knows that they've had the virus, can't then catch it again and can't give it to someone else.  On a personal level, there's also peace of mind.  It's the UK that's on the paralell universe and the resources needed are minimal compared to the benefits.

The number of people infected will be minimal, as a percentage of the population.  The cost in terms of lives, will be the indirect ones from the economic impact used to mitigate the spread of the virus, which will be in the millions globally.  A lot of defeatist nonsense being written and believed.

they have 120,000 to pick from to blame it on the VIRUS

I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of trust in Boris and his government on the numbers to be honest. It's Boris, guys. Trust in him and UK plc.

We’ve opted to devote resources to people who require hospitalisation. Seems eminently sensible to me. There’s going to be many of them, unfortunately. Frankly we don’t need to know about the majority of people with mild to modest symptoms who will recover at home. It does make sense to test healthcare workers who are showing similar symptoms in case it’s a false alarm.

You devote resources to both.  They are not mutually exclusive

Yet they are finite.

health care workers need more protection ...no masks and in some cases no anti bac gel as it's been stolen

Asia has been doing such a brilliant job in containing the virus that The West was lulled into a false sense of security.

Only two ways to end it, run it through herd immunity or strangle it back to the contain phase. If we get back to contain phase then needs the over-zealous testing to get to zero

And before anyone jumps on the computer modelling as "misinformation" this is a quote from the BBC correspodent

"The UK's plan has shifted because the scientific modelling showed we were on course for a "catastrophic epidemic""

They own up to it ffs

Norway has the third highest.  Suspect both have very rigourous testing as both their death rates are very low.

Who benefits ??? What is the purpose ??? Who has the power to create such chaos ??? These are the big questions.

Any answers to these questions Johnny?

Maybe just maybe a virus jumped species sometime in november with catastrophic consequences. Maybe their is no purpose and the power lay in nature.

From what I can see their is no obvious beneficiary just illness, death, financial losses and a significant curtailment of life and liberty.

I would not say - "Maybe just maybe a virus jumped species" - Mighty Whites  ...

Much more - 'A Given'

Happened several times before ...

ASIAN Flu - 1950s

BIRD Flu

SWINE Flu

Bit of a clue there - and they all originate in the dirty - medieval eating practices - Countries of the Far East.

Financial losses : That will be one because as money is lost in one area is is gained exponentially in another

curtailment of life and liberty : Exactly.
