These figures can be very misleading without the population figures as well. I heard a clown on the radio saying that if we have more deaths that the republic of Ireland then our policy is wrong but they fail be comprehend that there are 13 British people for each Irish citizen so a comparison to our 35 would be 3! China has actually done much better than Italy per head.

those figures are quite encouraging although it's early days and a small sample  ...obviously Italy  going to great measures but the rate of increase is very low  considering

Vietnam are doing something right. Prepared in December, first case in January and 50 odd days later they are at 57 cases, not even enough to get on the list.

On the downside, it shows how difficult this is to strangle, they almost got to zero but it broke out again. Great effort though.

The stats from the OP are about as use as a chocolate teapot- reported cases even if verified as corona dont include whether the victim goes on to die or recover. For MOT pass rates at a garage you wouldnt include cars halfway through an MOT determining the pass/failure rate.

The only stats that matter are the deaths compared to recovery rates which is a far bleaker picture

Every country has it own culture, politics, expertise, funds, dynamics and healthcare system. The testing regimes and reporting will be completely inconsistent, often secretive. Comparing the bare stats and coming up with useful hypotheses is next to futile.

No point in tests now ,you cant contain it. When the government talk about 4 month lockdowns for people over 70 you know its likely to be very serious. The real test will actually be if any of the " celebrities " that have confirmed cases of corona go on to die.. you can manipulate normal civilian figures but quite hard to lie about people being alive in the public eye if they have croaked. If news of Tom Hanks / arteta dying comes through then that would be the time to assume the current fatality rate over over 40% of people where the disease has run its course is accurate and time to get your affairs in order.

completed cases = number of people recovered added to number of deaths. As 1441 in Italy have died and 1996 have recovered that means out of a total of 3437 people where the disease has run its course 1441 have died. Thats why coachbuster you were confirmed as being dropped on your head at birth sadly
