Incidentally if it wasn't to do with physical capabilities, you would see OAPs battering each other. They aren't physically built for physical conflict and bar the small minority neither are women so physical capability has everything to do with behaviour. There are many cases of women assaulting women but as it rarely gets more serious than hair pulling they dont often end up in court- if a woman hits another woman its unlikely to cause as much damage as a man hitting a man and the law grades crime in definition of injury with ABH /GBH etc medical terms so is it any wonder the proportion of male to female offenders is much higher?
By:
Yes but it might be proof that men are more violent than women. They are just 2 examples. The fact that men are also generally stronger may have have no bearing on the fact (if we just go by the figures) that men are more violent.
As I said, most acts of violence are committed by men, on men |
By:
It was yourself or someone else who mentioned that men are physically stronger , that I would say matters not
as most violence is between men |
By:
Well if you are using crime statistics to ascertain whether men or women are more violent then of course it matters which gender is stronger. Scenario 1 - 2 women are in a fight Scenario 2 - 2 men are in a fight. As we know ABH ( actual bodily harm) and GBH ( grievous bodily harm) are medical terms based on injuries, which of the two scenarios is likely to cause these crimes on the balance of probability? 2 women lacking any real strength slapping each other grabbing hair or two men punching each others lights out? The former is likely to warrant a reprimand whilst the latter is more likely to entail a court appearance /CPS charges with annie reading the paper shaking her head at how nasty men are forgetting the two women "fighting " as it never went to court as neither was capable of dealing sufficient damage to warrant it

Is it easier to physically damage a woman , or a man. Which is it?
By:
As you havent read what Ive written and not answered theres no point continuing this nonsense on LFC. If you seriously think a woman is likely to cause more damage in a fight to another woman than a man fighting another man I don't see the purpose in continuing the debate on
By:
A grown woman probably has the strength of a 13 year old boy , as the criminal age of responsibility is 10 how many 13 year olds are charged with ABH or GBH? If you haven't got the physical strength to cross the legal threshold of what is medically defined as ABH/GBH then you aren't going to be charged with the crime. Two 13 year olds fighting are likely to cause less damage to each other than two grown men- two women are likely to cause less damage to each other than two men. It's hardly rocket science is it.
By:
I read what you said and noticed that you described two women pulling each other’s hair and slapping each other
I’m suggesting that if two men did that the results would be the same . If a woman wanted and was violent enough she could of course the same damage another woman as a man would to another man |
By:
lfc, how much physical damage, for the purpose of the law, a person can take does not depend on the gender of that person but on the force of the punch. You're very confused.
By:
No , it does depend on the gender . A man can take a much more forceful punch than a woman could
By:
So you're saying a man's nose would need a greater punch force to break than a woman's?
By:
Yes men’s bone structure is generally stronger
By:
And in fact someone like Muhammad Ali had a bone structure that was exceptional in being able to take a punch
It was Ali’s ability to take a punch that was his greatest strength Moreso than his other great qualities |
By:
Some people have that ability , and men have a greater capacity for it than women
By:
ok
By:
It’s also something that is important in football , and other sports of course as well as boxing
By:
so by that logic then LFC , two 13 year old kids who I presume you agree can't take a punch as well as a man would be in A n E every time they had a scrap in the playground

wolf, it's a trap.

By:
When a footballer tackles another it is just not a case of being able to resist a powerful tackle , but the players physical strength that can make the difference between a broken leg or being able to limp off
By:
It's hard to know if he's fishing or just not very bright - in any event it's late so shall leave this nonsense for the time being

wolf two children are just that , children . They are not men and generally not as violent as men
If however one was to attack the other violently then of course there would be major injuries |
By:
Especially if they are girls :)
By:
If two children attacked each other LFC, as happens in schools up and down the country every day there would not be "major injuries" in most cases as neither party has the strength to inflict them on the other. There were fights every other day at my old school and can't recall anyone ever being seriously injured as the strength wasn't there to cause the injuries. If two women were fighting , in most cases neither would have the capacity to cause lasting damage hence no police involvement /no criminal statistics- the fact you think two children that were girls could cause the same extent of injury to each other as two grown men is not just ridiculous but laughable quite frankly. Goodbye and goodnight
By:
I disagree wolf . I think women would have the capacity but choose not to cause excessive damage , they might not hit each other directly in the face for example but will tend to grapple and roll around on the ground etc . and a lot of this may even be subconscious
Of course there are exceptions but in general this is more likely Men will fight in a much more ruthless and violent way Goodbye and goodnite |

This discussion seems to have diverted a bit from Annie's initial idea.
By:
Because Annie stopped contributing. Her first idea, as I pointed out earlier too, was hypocritical. Asking men to hide their nasty side for women, then telling us we shouldn't just act nice because women want genuinely nice people. I am still waiting for the answer.

You've got a point regarding physical strength, so it's probably best to concentrate on white collar crime. I'd wager men are 3-4 times more likely to commit fraud if they found themselves in the same position, and that need would be the prime driver for women, whereas greed would be the prime motive for men. I think they are on average inately kinder and more caring and don't think there really is much argument to that. I think it's inate, and risk taking is correlated to testosterone. I think if you are too nice you a bit boring personally, and that there is greater pressure on men to take risks. Women don't want to take as many risks as men.
Fwiw I think women are more likely to accept the proceeds of a criminal partner, and more greed and money orientated when it comes to choosing a partner or spouse. |

"WOMEN - how to get and keep them"
by Phillip Schofield. |
By:
Interesting points clyde regarding the white collar crime, but as many more men are employed in that area it's difficult to prove or disprove. The majority of thefts in care homes for eg are perpetuated by women but then the majority of employees are women so it's like comparing apples and Oranges.
One thing I would wager at 1.02 is that Philip Schofield was straight before Annie started this thread |
