I cancelled this week, come and get me BBC, nothing they can do...after they doubled down with this disgrace, of course with trash like Kumar...

"British things… turns out there’s hardly any.”

WTF!!!

Andrew Neil not amused and rightly so....

Andrew Neil
@afneil
This is anti-British drivel of a high order. Was any of the licence fee used to produce something purely designed to demean us?

Nish Kumar is a total brit hating racist, yet the BBC golden boy, tells all you need to know...if a white comedian had told the crowd to go home and kill their black parents would have been sacked, great when Kumar does the same tho!

There was a novara virus China rescue chap on this morning, filming himself from where he was staying. It was hilarious as he started by stating how happy he was to be in an independent Britain (nod to Brexit!), and proceeded to explain how well he was being treated, couldn't ask for better, got anything they needed etc. That was definitely not the required agenda, so of course Naga was constantly talking over everything he was trying to say. What a refreshing change, an interviewee not an offended victim for once and grateful for the UK authorities.

I'm afraid to say, those type of instances are increasingly rare, the BBC is now out of touch, out of date, its days in its current guise are numbered.

Like many I suspect, I feel the BBC had a terrific amount of value. No institution that size is going to be without issue, but any corporation that can be involved in producing shows like Planet Earth (&II) was doing something right. Broadcast television has turned in a preachy cult of wokeness, unfortunately.

Only by those who accept woke nonsense these days. They are force-feeding the population a large daily portion of minority tosh on the website, the majority of license payers seem to be regarded as irrelevant. This will change if they have to earn their living.

Escapee - with regards to what?

Sport? Don’t be silly.
Soaps? I’d rather soak in acid.
Documentaries? Countless broadcasters match them.
News? RT, Al jaz...basically anyone that has a world view. BBC = Anti América/Russia and ambivalent to the rest.
Comedy? All the good, old stuff is on Gold.
Investigation? You mean John Sweeney (sacked)?
Dramas? The beeb is great for virtue signalling box ticking, but sky and Netflix are 20 years ahead of dear old aunty.

What’s left? Radio? Humphreys (Mr R4) was scathing in retreat. Which shows the cowardice of their gimps.
Lineker calls for a subscription service and nearly all programmes rely on the public phoning up!!

Agree , 20-25 years ago the BBC was reliable , accurate and unbiased . Today it is unreliable , inaccurate and biased . Add to that : Untrustworthy and agenda-driven and you have our current State broadcaster and all of the state propaganda and 'fake news' that goes with it .
Report sageform • February 2, 2020 11:12 AM GMT
Escapee, it is not matter of whether it is better or worse, although in many ways I think they are poor. It is a matter of whether the outdated funding model. It forces everyone who wishes to watch any channel to pay the BBC license fee even if they don't use the BBC from one year to the next. While I might be persuaded that a reformed BBC news gathering service on radio and TV is worth a fee, I certainly would not pay one penny for any of their other output. There are now dozens of channels out there who can and do produce programmes of equivalent quality and in a better format. I could name at least 6 stretches of motorway or trunk roads in the south west where Radio 5 live is not available due to poor coverage. That is unacceptable for a so called national broadcaster and BBC1 is not even in HD yet at the local news level.
Report Dr Crippen • February 2, 2020 11:34 AM GMT
It's the way it's funded that's the problem

Even if you hate everything the BBC stands for, you've got no choice but to contribute towards it if you want to watch live TV.

There's no place for what the BBC has become in a democracy.

I would hardly describe the BBC's coverage of Brexit (post referendum) as 'democratic' . A vast majority of their Brexit reports ignored the democratic rights of the electorate in that they gave far too much airtime to those who wished to overturn the result .

This Week was the only political show that had some proper balance to it. So of course it was deleted. It wasn't even produced in a balanced way, but at least Portillo was given the time to take the series of guests arguing for a second referendum apart.

The bbc suck

London Ambulance Service said it treated the three people for injuries at the scene and all were taken to hospital.

Of the other two, one had minor injuries, believed to have been caused by glass following shots from the police firearm, and the third person's condition was not life-threatening.

Minor injuries, one of them is fighting for their life.
Report BARROWBOY • February 2, 2020 9:53 PM GMT

IS - This is the bit you were thinking of............

London Ambulance Service said it treated the three people for injuries at the scene and all were taken to hospital. A man in his 40s was initially considered to be in a life-threatening condition but this is no longer the case. A woman in her 50s whose injuries were not life-threatening has been discharged from hospital. Another woman in her 20s continues to receive hospital treatment for minor injuries, believed to have been caused by glass following shots from the police.
Report sageform • February 3, 2020 3:23 PM GMT
The story is not about a non fatal stabbing but the early release and police surveillance of a known terrorist who had vowed to die with honour! The police carried out his wish but not sure about the honour involved or how you explain it to the victims.
