I'm all for moderate drinking but I used to dismiss this as a fad, thinking people would binge over Christmas, abstain in January and go back to their old ways in February.
However, research suggests that most of those participating drink a lot less from February onwards.
They've just had a liver specialist on LBC and it was incredible listening to him reel off the health benefits of abstinence.
They've just had a liver specialist on LBC and it was incredible listening to him reel off the health benefits of abstinence. You don't need to be a liver specialist to know that. If you are doing something that is harmful to your body, then stop doing it, then it will of course be beneficial.

Heart disease is far more common in the men, along with cancer.
