Weir handed her report to a South Yorkshire Police inspector; the only feedback was that it was "unhelpful".[91] According to the Jay report, one incident was, for Weir, the "final straw". A victim decided to file a complaint with the police. The perpetrators had smashed her parents' windows and broken her brothers' legs to stop her from reporting the rapes. Weir took her to the police station, but while there the victim received a text from the perpetrator to say he had her 11-year-old sister with him, and it was "your choice". This led the victim to believe someone had told the perpetrator she was at the police station, and she decided not to proceed with the complaint.[92] Following this, with the consent of her manager, Weir wrote in October 2001 to Mike Hedges, the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police, and to Christine Burbeary, the District Commander.[93][91] The letter said:

I have been visiting agencies, encouraging them to relay information to the police. Their responses have been identical—they have ceased passing on information as they perceive this to be a waste of time. Parents also have ceased to make missing person reports, a precursor to any child abduction investigation, as the police response is often so inappropriate. ... Children are being left at risk and their abusers unapprehended.[94][95]

The letter was not well received by the council or police.[96][97] During a meeting at Rotherham police station with senior police and council officials, they seemed incensed that Weir had written to the Chief Constable. Jayne Senior, who was present, said Weir was subjected to a "tirade that lasted I don't know how long".[98] According to Weir, at some point after this an official warned her against mentioning Asian men:

She said you must never refer to that again. You must never refer to Asian men. And her other response was to book me on a two-day ethnicity and diversity course to raise my awareness of ethnic issues.[87][98]

Hold the police accountable. When you start sending them to jail the rest of the scum will do their job. And that will stop the pakistanis from continuing without any fear.

If you're just going to whine about how the latest van was full of Pakistanis, you're going nowhere. 3 decades of the same crime doesn't take place without police support.

The point has to be made to the Pakistani community that this has stained their name or it will continue among them while others just shrug and turn a blind eye to what is happening.
A tad unfair to blame Burnham Crips, this has been happening across GMP for two decades,read the excellent book Survivors by Maggie Oliver,a policewoman who fought for justice for three girls from Rochdale. Talking to a headmaster in 2003 he said "thank goodness you are here,we have been banging on the doors of social services for two years and they will not do anything".

These people in authority that have blocked these investigations should be prosecuted for dereliction of duty as much as the perpetrators.
The victims were children as young as 11 and 12 and have been discarded by our society like disposable waste.

Dear me a new slogan for the Steptoe Mob

Whether it's robbery, drug smuggling, people trafficking, benefit/credit card fraud, sex crimes, etc, if it's a community specific this must be brought into the public attention. It's not discrimination or racism, but keeping others fully aware of the goings-on in order to reduce or prevent such crimes from happening.

Some of us could be related to victims of such crimes esp if they are perpetrated by a certain group of the population or profession. This is not discrimination, but targeting the cause and source so that a more effective solution or remedy could be implemented. If it involves a specific ethnic minority group sobeit - tough - but that's the only way forward, and sweeping it under the carpet will not. A reduction of that crime will benefit the community concerned too, and others.

I just hope the community concerned here ought to be honest with themselves and ask soul-searching questions why their male-folks are committing this heinous crimes against young vulnerable white girls.

Labour's denial may have been an issue last month across the north which seems to have witnessed much abuse but the sad part is that other ethnic groups contain females that will have suffered and felt unable to reach out for help in tightly controlled communities.Ignoring the scale of the problem has helped nobody.
