An appalling discovery and a genuinely shocking story. The traumatic scenes do not bear thinking about.
When all is said and done though, this is yet more blood on the hands of the "Welcome Refugees" cretins in Britain (including of course on this Forum). They have sought to normalise/encourage illegal immigration, asserting there are "No Borders". I won't name and shame the person who described the typical desperate sea-crossing and beach-landing of illegal immigrants as a "non-event". Such people need to take a very long hard look at themselves in the mirror about their catastrophically poor judgement, not least in the light of the discoveries in Essex today. Naturally they won't because they laughably self-identity as being "Progressives", always believing they know better. The news media are reporting that their country of origin of the deceased persons was Bulgaria. The mystery right now is why on earth were they leaving Bulgaria, a safe (if horrendously corrupt) country, crossing umpteen other safe EU countries to get into Britain in this manner? My understanding is that since 2014, Romanians and Bulgarians have enjoyed Freedom of Movement within the EU. What exactly was the incentive, and how does Britain and the rest of the sane world act to PREVENT a repeat of this? |

That is by no means unlikely. You just need a majority of constituencies with enough persons living within them who would vote for an (e.g) ISLAM PARTY, and that should do it. Their current Block Vote for the Labour Party would be unceremoniously ditched. |

Richard Burnett, chief executive of the Road Haulage Association, said travelling from Bulgaria to Essex via Cherbourg, Rosslare, Dublin and Holyhead would take "three to five days in total".
"Because of the migrant issue at Dover and Calais, you've got far more checks that are taking place there," he said. "You've got heartbeat monitors, you've got dogs, you've got CO2. Those checks are done as you drive through. "Cherbourg, because it's a low-volume port, you probably won't have the same security measures that they have in Coquelles [Eurotunnel terminal] or Calais. Essex Police has said it believes the lorry is from Bulgaria and arrived in Wales at Holyhead, on Saturday. A 25-year-old man from Northern Ireland has been arrested on suspicion of murder. |

Totally shocking, but just some thoughts....
I thought these containers were sealed after loading.... Also 39 is a hell of a lot of people, but wouldn't they have realised that it was refrigerated, and also that they would soon be out of oxygen? If they did consider all of this, it would just go to show how desperate they were, and how callous were those that organised it! |

That Richie Burnett gets about a bit.

Reuters news agency is now reporting that UK police believe the lorry travelled from Zeebrugge in Belgium into Purfleet, which is near Grays in the Thurrock district of Essex, shortly after 00:30 this morning.

Bulgarian lorry. Not necessarily Bulgarian people. In fact police have said highly unlikely to be Bulgarian.

nothing to do with Bulgaria but has shone a light on tax advantages of irish lorries been registered in Bulgaria for tax purposes ,apparently there,s plenty at it

Not comfortable with the lorry driver being named with his picture shown.
Bit early to release that isn't it?? |
|
By:
A lorry driver is believed to have picked up a refrigerated container in Essex just minutes before the bodies of 39 people were found inside.
Minutes later, his lorry was seen driving into the Waterglade Industrial Park in Thurrock, where ambulance crews and police were called and found 39 people dead in the back, including a teenager. The trailer collected had been delivered to Purfleet by ship from the Belgian port of Zeebrugge at around midnight last night. The trailer is understood to be refrigerated, meaning temperatures inside could have been as low as -25C. |
|
By:
They shouldn't have risked their lives simple as that really
|
|
By:
It's not just the temperature the trailers are insulated some they probably died through lack of oxygen buto then who willingly hides in the back of a fridge trailer. If the driver as just picked up the trailer then it's nothing to do with him
|
|
By:
they have been very quick to blame the driver.
Oh and yes it is our fault. I am apologising in advance. |
|
By:
I'm staggered they've named him and have shown his picture.
|
|
By:
I have already read an article blaming everyone for this - in the Intelligent Tabloid!!!
|
|
By:
If he only picked the trailer up at the docks then it's no way it is his fault
|
|
By:
Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland have carried out raids on two houses associated with the arrested man - one in Markethill, County Armagh, and another in nearby Laurelvale.
Police said the tractor unit (the front part of the lorry) came from Northern Ireland and picked up the trailer from Purfleet. The tractor and trailer then left the port shortly after 01:05 and officers were called around 30 minutes later when ambulance staff made the grim discovery. |

well i was referring to xmoneys post. This is a piece from The Telegraph:
The country’s foreign ministry said it had been registered in the city of Varna under the name of a company owned by an Irish woman and had not returned since 2017. The area is a cigarette and fuel smuggling route which is known locally to have links to Irish Republican gangs. The container has been linked to a company which has an office address in Dublin but is registered across the border in Northern Ireland. what with the routes & the pick ups; this isn't just the norm |
|
By:
Not the norm, exactly Bap....
If it was 'Irish' it's Slab Murphy' but i believe otherwise. DUP have already said off record he is 'one of them', that means Catholic. but i believe otherwise |
