Look I used to deliver for Sainsburys part time....Never ever delivered hummus to a council estate only the posh folk ordered it....Fact.

Hummus is about as non posh and basic as it gets IMO.

In years to come they'll be dishing it out from food banks, I remember when spaghetti bolognaise was exotic, now every chav on the planet has ruined his t-shirt eating it.

I love chickpeas and I can eat them as an alternative to a main meal with veggies, but I hate hummus. It looks like something one throws up after a dodgy kebab.

So, I see everyone is spelling it 'hummus', bar me. At first I just put it down to you lot being sh1t at speeling, but when every single person is spelling it the same, I began to doubt myself - and my spelling is pretty good.

Anyway, from wiki: hummus, hommos, houmous, hoummos, homous, houmos, and houmus are all acceptable - as well as similar variants! What the effing eff?!?

Do Scots eat hummus? Surely they have much nicer dishes such as haggis, porridge oats, fried Mars bars and Arbroath smokies to be bothered with that foreign muck.

The Food Standards Agency is urging consumers not to eat the products, from a producer called Zorba Delicacies Limited, and return them to stores for a refund.

The government department said: 'The products listed above might be contaminated with salmonella.

Twenty years ago you used to get some really tasty houmus from supermarkets (Safeways houmus used to be a favourite). But over the years they have toned-down the flavour and most of them are now a tasteless paste.

A recall of hummus from UK supermarkets - sparked by a salmonella scare last week - has been extended.

The recall has been made by dip maker Zorba Delicacies, which supplies several supermarkets including Aldi, Morrisons, Lidl, Asda and Sainsbury's.

The first recall covered goods with use-by dates of up to 7 November, but has now been extended to 17 November.

The full list of hummus products subject to the recall can be found on the Food Standards Agency's website.

The recall also includes products sold by John Lewis, Iceland, Booker, Spar, Safeway and The Real Deli. A Nando's branded product is also affected.
