Hummus in the Bible...
On the first time Ruth and Boaz had met in Bethlehem, he offered her what seems to have been an ancient form of hummus: “And at meal-time Boaz said unto her, 'Come hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the Hummus” (Ruth 2-14) A gift from the gods.... |

Posh folk eat Hummus to enhance their own self esteem at being open minded and culturally diverse, poor people just spread Shippams fish paste on their crackers

Look I used to deliver for Sainsburys part time....Never ever delivered hummus to a council estate only the posh folk ordered it....Fact.

In years to come they'll be dishing it out from food banks, I remember when spaghetti bolognaise was exotic, now every chav on the planet has ruined his t-shirt eating it.

I love chickpeas and I can eat them as an alternative to a main meal with veggies, but I hate hummus. It looks like something one throws up after a dodgy kebab.

So, I see everyone is spelling it 'hummus', bar me. At first I just put it down to you lot being sh1t at speeling, but when every single person is spelling it the same, I began to doubt myself - and my spelling is pretty good.
Anyway, from wiki: hummus, hommos, houmous, hoummos, homous, houmos, and houmus are all acceptable - as well as similar variants! What the effing eff?!? Not to be confused with 'humus' though! |

Where is Paisley? I've only heard of Bob and Ian (Paisley). Is it a suburb in Albania?
|
|
By:
Paisley is a town situated in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. Located on the northern edge of the Gleniffer Braes, the town borders the city of Glasgow to the east, and straddles the banks of the White Cart Water, a tributary of the River Clyde.

Thank-you 'tictacman'. It sounds absolutely foreign to me even though I'd been to Aberdeen (Scotland) for fish and chips and casinos. It's Sturgeon's country, I take it. Soon...part of The EU (hopefully).

Although she hates the english I am always intrigued in a nice way that so many of her subjects seek to live and work in england
And they love it - at least the ones I know do!! |

Do Scots eat hummus? Surely they have much nicer dishes such as haggis, porridge oats, fried Mars bars and Arbroath smokies to be bothered with that foreign muck.
|
|
By:
i'm not posh & Scottish & i love a dollop of hummus,
don't judge a man by his dips |
|

I'm not posh either, and I hate sturgeon's eggs - salty and revolting. Only mug gastronome will indulge in this aqua roe.

Nearly 20 types of houmous from stores including Sainsbury's Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl and Asda are part of the recall by the UK Food Standards Agency.
The Food Standards Agency is urging consumers not to eat the products, from a producer called Zorba Delicacies Limited, and return them to stores for a refund. The government department said: 'The products listed above might be contaminated with salmonella. |

Twenty years ago you used to get some really tasty houmus from supermarkets (Safeways houmus used to be a favourite). But over the years they have toned-down the flavour and most of them are now a tasteless paste.
