For those dedicated to science, we should recall Science deemed the world was flat in 16th century and burned deniers,Science condemned witches and drowned deniers,Science deemed Thalidomide essential for pregnant mothers and laughed at deniers,Science in the name of Marietta Higgs deemed half of Middlesborough were child abusers and removed children from loving parents. It is not a bad thing to have a sense of scepticism when science rushes to hysterical extremes.

Slavish acceptance of science when most of the research has been driving one way is not good,I have neither the time nor the inclination to get into a 6th form style of debate but will ALWAYS be sceptical of hysterical followers of a trend whether it is religion,climate change (or global warming or the environment as it once was) or football followers. We were pushed towards diesel only a short while ago.

There seems to be no end of loonies on here denying climate change. Unfortunately, as yet I haven't seen any evidence forthcoming from them as to why it's not true. There are plenty strawman arguments and glib remarks such as carbon dioxide is good for plants, the population of polar bears is increasing, the police are too soft on demonstrators, records only go back 40 years, ice has been crashing into the sea for hundreds of years, it's a stealth tax, I can't see any change in my back garden and of course lots of comments about Greta. But no evidence. So climate change deniers please post some evidence along with their sources to support your argument. And still no evidence. |

The scientific method can prove something. After rigorous testing. The proven item can be overturned by new methods and new evidence.
This does not appear to have been applied to the 'science' of global warming which in fact is no science - but more a political and then money making scam. |

Not all of climate science is about predictions- much is just gathering evidence (using thermometers rather than bears ) . The planet is warmer now than it was 40 years ago - that is not a prediction. Glaciers are smaller now than they were 40 years ago- that is not a prediction- it is just scientists looking out their back door and recording what they see. Their predictions are pretty accurate. Who said no snow (in UK???) by when??? - is this actually a quote my a scientific institution, was it in a journal, a paper. Is there a link to this story? Seems very strange as the wiry is temperature will rice by 2 C this century- will still be snow in Scottish mountains if a 2C rise. |
