Ps for those of you who can't make your mind up about me
I've not been educated at Eton I am sorry to Doo Wah Good place to grt in Eton, just attended there will get you a job Otherwise how would David Cameron or Boris Johnson ever been employed by anyone ![]() |
By:
I think education should be decided by ability not money...but we will never give up public schools
Keep the Red Flag Flying ![]() |

Evgennykissin is a very good classical piano player even though you can't sing along to any of the tunes he played .I had never heard of him untill I came across him on you tube hes excellent .but my all time fav was Russ Conway
Evgennykissin did you know he was a piano player when you gave yourself a chit chat name or did you think it was a Russian racehorse |

Uble a good education is marvellous .when I had loads of money It never occurred to me once to spend any money on them for education apart from their school uniform and a few books
I thought those who sent their children to fee paying schools were just show offs .it didn't occur to me that it was worth the money But again I was wrong |

By:
I've seen him a couple of times in concert at the Barbican, DWD. How is Manchester today? Are you going to Gorton? I hear it is a magical place! Did you enjoy the St Leger? |
By:
I lived in gorton when I first got married in 1975. We lived in a two up two down. With a geezer for hot water no bathroom just a tin bath that we kept in the backyard ?I put drawing pins in the wall paper to keep it up as it peeled off it was that damp .I used to go up in the small loft in my underpants with a tin full of tar to try and stop the leaks in the roof.the neighbors were good apart from the alcoholic who lived next door to us whose alsation bit me when knocked on his door to tell him to turn the music down and that his frying pan was on fire .
We lived right next door to belle view a huge zoo and pleasure area which housed concerts and a fair.on a sunny day you could open your windows if they wasn't stuck and listen to the top acts like the Osmond's and rod Stewart You could see the elephants walk down the main road when they advertised their circus Gorton is a dump .you wouldn live there unless you had no other choice .I don't know where you got the idea that it's a magical place from. |

By:
Sorry. I just remember it as Gerald Kaufman country.
Do you remember Ancoats? |
By:
I'm in to the jumps mostly I've been to lots of flat meetings but when I choose them it was nearly always A jumps meeting .ive been on many many coach trips to the flat race meetings .but my favs were the jump meetings with small crowds
St ledger to me is just another meeting to gamble on |
By:
I met Gerald Kaufman on a market near me was campaigning .I took his Mike off him and started singing into it .he laughed but that's the only time you ever saw him at election time
By:
Yes ancoats is where alot of haberdashery wholesalers were just outside the main shopping center another dump
By:
I seem to remember Bernard Manning coming from Ancoats. Did you ever visit his club?
By:
There used to be a tramps hostel in ancoats when I had a big win on the horses once I knocked on the door and asked to see the manager I don't think he wanted to see me untill I said I was going to give them 2500 pounds as a donation to buy some new beds
I think he thought I was just another tramp Little did I know that one day I would end up in a que with the likes that they looked after for free food |
By:
Sorry, DWD. I hope you are better now.
By:
Yes his club was a great night out but it only had pub hours not like the other clubs .I saw him many times.his club was in harperhay
By:
Yes, The Embassy. He did enormous works for charity.
By:
I think Stephen Fry admired his technique.
Also, I seem to remember that AJP Taylor was a fan. |
By:
He was a man who did loads for charity and he lent his rolls royce to many people for free
When they got married Ive seen him in many clubs .and always packed .he once led the singing at Wembley for the community sing along .he then rushed back to his club to do his act .his mother was behind the bar working putting all the money in the till |
By:
Is that a j p Taylor the one who wrote the book about fly fishing
By:
That joke about him carrying his mother downstairs every morning to make his breakfast - and not many men would do that
![]() He started his career at the Oldham Empire - discovered by Jimmy James. Both men liked the turf! |
By:
AJP Taylor was a famous historian. I think you are thinking about J R Hartley.
By:
Johnnie Hamp made him famous on The Comedians.
By:
Yes that's right but I don't recall ajp Taylor like I've said before I've only ever red very few books and many of those are about alcoholic footballers and compulsive gambling footballers
By:
The man was a workaholic - could do 5 sets in a night! Finish at the Embassy and then off to Plymouth!
By:
Yes but he was never allowed to be blue on t v which I agreed with .TV should be a family entertainment .where you can all enjoy it .and not worry if your children or the milkman suddenly burst into your front room
By:
I think that's why milk men stopped delivering milk .with all this swearing and sex scenes con t v when they came to get paid .my milk man was a Jehovah's witness
By:

Very well done for your donation Do Wah...it proves you are a very nice man ![]() I used to like going to the small jumps meeting....but I don't go know. It always took such a long time to get out of the tracks after the last race, I never liked that. |
By:
Mind you nice does not always win in this world...as you have demonstrated Do Wah
![]() But I wish you luck for the future....I read all your posts...I find you very entertaining on here ![]() |
