The gfa was one of the most disgraceful agreements ever signed and led directly to terrorist murderers entering government instead of being sentenced for their crimes
|
|

Ever sign any agreement with the Irish , that’s the sort of thing that it leads to
Any agreement should be with the EU , not France or gernany or Greece and not Ireland As part of the EU that’s their place , no need to talk to that hobininny they have as pm |

The truth is there is already a border in the island of Ireland. The EU gave the ROI a veto on how the UK leave. As a first step, Boris is asking for that veto to be removed. Nige's position is that we should just leave anyway and sod the veto. I agree with him.

We don't want to return to the troubles that is for sure....
The political situation in N.Ireland is very finely balanced..to ensure peace between the two Religions Some fear an EU imposed border may destabilise this. But the EU do have their rules, so??????????????????????????? |

ebul , the best thing is to leave in Oct , then the Irish are going to have to behave themselves just like everyone else

lfc - dont know what your problem with the Irish is - I'm working there regularly this alst two years. They are great to work with clever and technically excellent. You can see the fruits of their education system alla round. They are good fun too, witty and can leave work behind and enjoy themselves effortlessly.
Not to mention great classy looking lassies there too - intelligent and fun-loving. Many would be endowed to your tastes - I'm sure you've been there. A lot of eastern europeans there who seem to have integrated well and are generally welcomed.I'm quite envious of their situation (in comparison to Scotland) - have a proper place in the world which they use very effectively. Irish policy became EU policy, and they are well on the way to making it US policy too. Better education system, vibrant economy and have a higher standard of living than the UK. They have done well with their independence, no way would it be the country it now is if it was still stuck as a UK region. And, as I said on another thread, what did anyone expect them to do - they are perfectly entitled to look after their own interests. They are just trying not to make the brexit sh1tshow a bigger problem for them than it already is. If we had politicians of their calibre we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now - they are running rings around us in terms of Brexit - mind you it isn't that hard to do. |

Great post Wallflower,
Ireland cannot do anything about brexit, except watch on and deal with the consequences/fallout is the height of it. |

By:
its Britain armageddon, lets hope the people remember that Nero fiddled while Rome burned, and stop the British doomsday scenario, because it is the ordinary people that will suffer the super massive catastrophic consequences, and 75% of the people do not even realize the seriousness of a NO DEAL BREXIT.

It is Britain who oppose any hard border the most.
We still are hoping that one day the island of Ireland will reunite. Of course this cannot happen until the majority of the North vote for it. That is our pledge. With all the tech nowadays, how hard does any border have to be. Surely we can track any vehicles coming in and leaving N. Ireland. Once they are over the border into N.Ireland, direct them into designated car parks. Here their loads can be inspected and checked out. |

Excuses are like arsesols are they not....

Unfortunately we cannot use the same rules the Romans did Mouse, they would slaughter anyone who opposed them.
Eventually there was the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in N.Germany where 3 legions where slaughtered under Varus(included Varus) The Romans made their border just South of the Teutoburg Forest after that. Similar to Britain, the Romans never bothered conquering Scotland, they just built Hadrians Wall, as the Northern border of their Empire. |

I'm totally fed up with politicians and unelected representatives from Ireland attempting to derail our exit from the EU by continually bleating on and on about the return of a hard border and how it would cause a return to the troubles .Why can't they get it into their thick heads that the UK has no wish whatsoever to introduce a hard border and if one is installed it will be by the Irish.
The Irish should bear in mind that the UK has the ability to destroy their economy and the mood i'm in at the moment i'd be happy to see trade between the two countries reduced to a trickle. The openly gay Taoiseach better start stockpiling potatos. |

posy - the UK will have to put up a border as will Ireland. Dont have a choice, its complete nonsense to say otherwise. Ireland doesn't have a choice either. They are rightly apprehensive about it - and its not their fault, as usual its "their neighbour from hell" again.
Besides how do we take back "our border, money, laws" if we dont man a border??. Ireland wont do that for us. The only solution is a NI-only backstop, i.e. border is in the sea and Johnson / Cummings etc know this. Need to win an election and drop the DUP - in addition the majority of people in NI are in favour of this solution..... and its already in place for agricultural trade. Job done. |

pecker ,it will be a european border not an irish one, with the German French, and Italian soldiers on the other side, and moves are already in place.
