good evening Mr Bula; i don't see how it can. Scaling back could mean concentrated search nearby?

By:
Got to feel for her parents. Be hoping for the best but deep down will know there is little chance of her being alive.

from The Mirror:
"Police in Malaysia have started to scale back the search for missing British teenager Nora Quoirin and have "no credible leads" on where she could be. The search will now focus on steep areas, shrubs and rocks as well as around the family's accommodation as police do not believe the girl could have gone far". |

That is a disgraceful comment.

I can't see she has decided to climb out the Window and go for a walk in the Middle of the Night

OP -- According to her family she wouldn't go wandering off alone
Trouble is that if Nora did wander off alone, she'd get lost almost immediately. She has special needs, does not speak the language, the family is on holiday rather than at home, and it is more-or-less in the middle of a jungle. |

Things don't add up imo

"The search for London girl Nora Quoirin, 15, was beginning today, one week after she disappeared from a Malaysian jungle resort.
However police leading the search have expressed fears for her safety. Negeri Sembilan police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop said: "So far, we have no credible leads on where she is but we will continue with the search. We are accepting information from all parties and our investigation is exploring all angles." Mr Mohamad said there was no evidence to indicate that Nora had been abducted, the local Star publication reported". "Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop said this will allow the searchers to concentrate on a more focused area. Mr Mohamad said there was no evidence that Nora had been abducted but a separate criminal investigation is taking place alongside the search". "Nora’s parents described how their daughter has limited verbal communication, meaning she cannot make or receive phone calls independently or write more than a few words at a time, and cannot grasp how to manage money. ‘She is not like other teenagers. She is not independent and does not go anywhere alone,’ they said in a statement released by the Lucie Blackman Trust. ‘Nora likes to walk with her family, but her balance is limited and she struggles with coordination. ‘She has been to Asia, and many European countries before, and has never wandered off or got lost.’" a true mystery |

Detectives have searched the homes of staff working on the resort and have interviewed the taxi driver who picked up the family from Kuala Lumpur Airport on Sunday.
Investigators from Malaysia’s Bukit Aman – the country’s equivalent of the FBI – are investigating known paedophiles and other criminals in the resort. On Friday elite commandos joined the jungle hunt for the schoolgirl as concerned cops have drafted in the VAT 69 special forces in their search and rescue effort. It comes after cops said they believe Nora may still be alive after finding “her footprints” in the jungle. Emergency teams say they are now focusing their search for the vulnerable youngster on isolated "hilly areas" as she could be hiding behind huge rocks. Looking bleak .... |

Surprised no one has googled the mum and noticed she is co-owner of a tech company that has offices in London /NY/Singapore ,wondering if this is a factor ? The child’s French grand mother statement saying French high level pressure has been applied and the search would now be on s diff level explains why the search is so big imo ,the childs grandfather is a Mayor in France ,also child is travelling on an Irish passport .Childs mum is an accomplished public speaker and would explain her doing the talking and father giving moral support at presser . The family had just arrived at the resort after an 18 hour flight into a -7 hr time zone . The sleeping arrangements and “cottage” layout are not clear but open window was in a hall rather than a bedroom ,wonder who booked and paid for this holiday and if mums buisiness was my used . Think if she wandered off they would have found her , drowned on resort and been covered up by who ever or been kidnapped which Is not unheard of and site is only 40 km from KL ,if she has been kidnapped it won’t be a random event and could be a well planned job ,perhaps the police know this and are ever mindful of how potential negotiations need to go . Which could be compromised by such high media attention .
|
|
By:
Puzzled by the sketchy info on “open wedged window “and it’s reported no locks on doors on resort ,couple and three children on holiday of a lifetime but given likely wealth of family perhaps not that big a thing .Info on Childs disability is also sketchy and no mention of medication or special needs ,real info is sparse and all very sketchy .

The teenager's family said she was born with holoprosencephaly, a disorder which affects brain development, meaning that she "struggles with co-ordination".
Her family has said Nora is "not independent and does not go anywhere alone". |

from Jackie Fox - RTE:
Gardaí and British police support Nóra Quoirin searchOfficers from the UK's National Crime Agency, Scotland Yard and An Garda Síochána are supporting Malaysian authorities in the search for Nóra Quoirin. "The 15-year-old vanished more than a week ago from a rainforest resort about 70km south of Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur. A spokeswoman for the NCA said: "The National Crime Agency, the Met Police and the Irish police are working together to help and support the Malaysian authorities relating to Nóra Quoirin's disappearance." With hundreds of people, including an elite police force, out daily looking for any trace of Nóra, there is still no indication of what happened to her. Malaysia's Malay Mail newspaper said a total of 348 personnel were deployed in the search operation, the largest team so far. On Saturday, a garda liaison officer arrived in Malaysia to assist police with their investigation and to help the Department of Foreign Affairs as it provides consular assistance to Nóra’s family. Police are still treating this as a missing persons case even though the family think she was abducted." |

A £10,000 reward has been offered to help find a vulnerable teenager who went missing in Malaysia, after the family raised more than £100,000.
Some 350 people are taking part in the search for 15-year-old Nora Quoirin, who disappeared from her room at the Dusan resort on 4 August. |
